About me and my therapy practice
My career has been focused on caring for women, helping them to find their voice, and at times being their voice.
I worked in the NHS from 1982 to 2018. I started my career as a Registered Nurse. I became a Midwife in 1987, retiring in 2018. As a Midwife, I worked with all aspects to of midwifery care, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and as a Specialist Midwife in Perinatal mental Health.
After 5 years of study, I passed my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2017, and am now a fully registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I also have training with the Foundation for Infant Loss, Working with Female Rape and Childhood Sexual Abuse Certification and Cruse Bereavement Awareness Course.
My approach is person centred. Person centred means that I work with you and holistically, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches to suit you, your personality, difficulties, and life experiences.
In addition to my private practice, I work with clients at East Kent Rape Crisis Centre (EKRCC) and in my spare time as a Bereavement Volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Care.
Although I work mostly with women in all aspects of therapeutic mental health care, but specialise in difficulties relating to abuse and trauma. I also support those who have been bereaved, infant loss, suffering from anxiety, or simply finding it hard to meet life’s challenges.
Many clients have a preference for “Face to Face” counselling sessions but if you prefer I am able to offer the option of working together via a video link or telephone.

My first session
The initial session is an opportunity for you to see if my way of working suits your needs. It’s very important that you feel comfortable and that we are a good fit so speak.
It is also a space for you to share, what has brought you to therapy, to enable us to understand what you are looking for and what you would like to work on.
