About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope with your circumstances, feelings or responses? As a qualified and experienced therapist I can support you to gain insight, understanding and self-acceptance and move towards a greater sense of calmness and clarity.
We will start with how you are now - your anxiety, depression, anger or numbness are the key to making sense of the responses which may no longer be serving you well. Gaining a fresh perspective on your inner self can help build resilience and purpose for living well, even in the face of future struggles and difficulties that life inevitably brings.
I provide a safe and confidential space where you will be fully heard without judgement. From this secure base you can feel free to explore your feelings, relationships and experiences, bringing to light what you may not have been able to see on your own. Within the therapeutic relationship comes a depth of understanding which can bring relief - and hope. Things in your life may not have unfolded as planned, relationships may not have gone as you expected. But emotional insight carries with it the possibility of new beginnings.
My training includes a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Therapy plus a Level 5 in Relationship Counselling (Relate). I am also fully trained in counselling by webcam, email and other digital media (OCST). For the past 8+ years I have been counselling people of all genders, backgrounds, sexual orientations and cultures. From this intensive training and experience I am able to draw on various approaches, tailored to your own needs to help you re-discover who you are meant to be.
As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) my practice is thoroughly grounded in professional ethics underpinned by ongoing supervision and continual professional development to ensure I provide a confidential, safe environment and that I am the best I can be for you.
Practice description
I work with individual adults as well as couples. My way of working is person-centred, meaning I consider you the expert on yourself.
As your counsellor, I can guide and facilitate you to find your own truth. By careful listening along with a constant focus on your unique way of looking at things, we can take this journey together, at your pace and to the depth at which you are comfortable. I will give you respect, appreciation and acceptance without judgement, so you can, if you choose, feel safe enough to take an unfiltered look at yourself and in turn decide how you wish to channel your thoughts and feelings into action.
Some of the approaches we may touch upon are:
• How Attachment patterns in early life are affecting your current relationships
• Working creatively to help you release your emotions
• Finding the significance of your ‘shadow’ side (Jungian approach)
• Exploring the parent, adult and child in you (Transactional Analysis)
• Existential ways to find meaning in whatever life throws at you.
For couples, the aim may be to improve your communication and understanding of each other so that you can resolve disagreements and deal with life’s stresses by working together.
My first session
I offer the first 50 minute session for £20 on zoom or by phone. During this time I may ask you some questions such as what brings you to counselling and what experience of counselling you have had so far.
