About me and my therapy practice
Hello and Welcome, My name is Katie and I am a Practitioner Psychologist, with a background in nursing, specialising in working with clients who experience trauma.
Trauma is not the same for everyone. We are unique but if you are struggling, in pain, you might want to find out more about how therapy can help. Below are some clinical ways that people can present at the time of referral:
- Life is experienced as overwhelming or you are noticing distress
- Finding it hard to cope with daily living
- Feeling anxious or depressed
- Experiencing difficulties with sleep
- Noticing burnout
- Awareness of an unresolved trauma like bereavement, bullying or from early childhood that is impacting on life
- Recognising pain
Client Testimonial
I am doing well. I am noticing that I seem to be allowing myself to experience and express my emotions rather than suppressing them (particularly with alcohol). I am far more curious of my reactions and feel that I am able to then process them and accept them more - if that makes sense. I also seem to have more space/motivation when thinking of the future and rarely have those feelings of being stalked by something in the past.
Thank you for working with me over these past few months and for being so good at your job. (with permission, JO)

Client Testimonial
“ In my time with Katie carrying out my therapy, I have found it to be more beneficial to my mental health than I thought possible. In speaking about hard issues alone helped greatly especially with Katies approach and experience. I found when carrying out DBR, that it tapped into my issues very effectively and the results over my sessions has been life changing. Moving forward I have found that I am better equipped for life problems, have addressed many under lying issues and long term problems. I have found that my time with Katie in therapy and by carrying out DBR, has improved my life, coping skills and closed off many underlying mental health concerns. Thank you Katie”

I would just like to say a big thank you. Especially after yesterday session. Yesterday felt like I have gone to the next stage? I felt so much more energetic in the afternoon. With your help I feel so much better from when we first met.
I feel more in control of myself and have confidence to learn more about myself.
I would highly recommend the treatment. (BW, March 2023)

About me and my therapy practice
Hello and Welcome. My name is Katie Hendrick and I am a Counselling Psychologist specialising in working with clients who experience trauma. This can often be related to shock or changes in feelings of anxiety, anger or depression. For some people there is, for example, a clear awareness of an unresolved childhood trauma or abuse or an experience of overwhelming distress from unexpected life events like a bereavement that may impact on their working life, relationships, sleep pattern. Everyone is unique and if you are struggling, in pain, then the type of therapy work I offer may be of interest to you.
Client testimonial:
"Katie has always been there for me.
I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder at the end of 2019 and have been working with Katie for over 3 years. During this time, she tried various approaches, including breathing techniques, CRM, and some Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques, to help me and we finally moved onto DBR. Katie, as a psychologist, is professional, efficient, responsible, flexible, and punctual, on top of everything, she cares about me. She has done a brilliant job of caring about me but holding strong boundaries at the same time. Because of the perfect balance, she has been keeping, I feel I can always count on her, in fact, she has been there for me almost every week in the last few years. The DBR technique mostly skips talking (words) and allows the patient to face his/her pain or issues directly, which was just what I needed, as after years of other therapies before this, I found out that talking was not sufficient for my recovery. The effect of DBR during each session was sensational, it gives me the opportunity of being with the real me or to say with my real feelings or emotions.
Best wishes,
(With kind permission, N.S. 2023) For full testimonial see www.hendrickps.com
