About me and my therapy practice
I believe we have within ourselves all the necessary resources and knowledge to live a full and meaningful life. Counselling can provide the necessary conditions to re-establish that potential.
My work is firmly grounded in the Humanistic tradition of believing that you are the expert of your own lived experience. My role is to enquire, respectfully challenge and understand that perspective, which in turn can help to empower you in your everyday life.
How counselling can help.
Counselling has the capacity to bring hope into everyday life by strengthening the belief in a better, more positive future.
Having the courage to be proactive in combating the problems that we all face in life enhances our chances of achieving a happier and more fulfilled life.
Practice description
I am a qualified Humanistic Psychotherapist practising in Brighton and Hove.
A fully insured, registered member of the British Association of Counsellors (BACP) and accredited member of UKCP which are two of the largest professional registering bodies for counsellors and psychotherapists. I adhere to their code of conduct and abide by their ethical framework.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked at the Help Service which is a counselling service offered exclusively to NHS staff at The Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton and the surrounding areas.
I have also worked at Change, Grow, Live (CGL) providing counselling to service users who are striving to manage/reduce their drug or alcohol addiction.
In accordance with the BACP guidelines I am committed to continuous professional development through training courses, workshops, relevent updated reading, personal therapy and supervision.
My first session
How to get started.
Please feel free to make contact via email or phone with any queries or questions you may have, or to book a no-obligation 50 minute free initial consultation.
The initial consultation is to see if we feel we can work together therapeutically as well as to explore whether or not I am the right counsellor for your requirements. If we feel that you would be better suited to work with someone else I will endeavour to recommend an alternative counsellor.
Once you have made your decision we will find a convenient time and day to being counselling together. We will regularly review our sessions to make sure that you are getting what you want from the counselling. I offer long term as well as short term counselling depending on your needs.
I have various daytime and evening appointments available so we will be able to find a time and day that suits your needs.
