The field of creativity formed a significant part of my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and continues to be an ongoing interest of mine. Having completed my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in fine art practice at the University of Leeds I worked at Leeds Arts University offering support to students in a creative therapeutic context. I have also published a book titled 'The Everything and the Nothing: The Bedroom Artist'. My autobiographical book reflects on my own diverse journey as a younger person and includes my own creative artwork that helped me process many different emotions and lived experiences that impacted upon me as a teenager and younger adult.
My interest in creativity means that I am able to offer creative ways of working should this be something that you feel would be helpful in your therapeutic journey; because feelings and experiences can be shared and processed in many different and subjective ways.
My role as an NHS Clinician based at Mind Mate Spa has also informed my knowledge and experience in relation to supporting people living with mental health challenges.
A rigorous ethical approach upheld by sanctioned professional standards underpins every aspect of my work as a Counselling Psychotherapist accredited by The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I offer a reduced cost for people on low incomes and for student counsellors.
My first session
Prior to a first session, I offer a free thirty-minute telephone discussion so that we can both decide whether a first session is appropriate for you moving forward.
During this information gathering, we can discuss how many sessions you may want and what you would like to focus on in your sessions.
This is also an opportunity to discuss how therapy works, including issues such as confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulation.
This initial consultation also allows for you to ask me any questions that you may have, as well as discussing your goals and hopes for therapy.
Once you have had a consultation, you can decide whether you would like to embark on your therapeutic journey with me as your therapist.
If you decide to book a first session, I will send you a counselling contract to read through as well as a personal information request form.
Once this has been completed we can book a day and time for our first session.
