About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk about your issues. I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor and my aim is help you unlock the answers that are already inside but might be hidden or trapped by unhelpful thought patterns. Changing these thought patterns can be the key to better mental health. The first thing I also tell all my clients to be kinder to themselves mentally. We all seem to be our own cruellest critics and often our troubles start there.
Our relationship is a key element to your therapeutic development and that is why the first session will be used to make sure that we can work together.
I believe that the best person to help you is you, as nobody knows your mind as well as you do. By aiding you in finding these answers means they are more likely to be right for you. One size does not fit all. I work one-on-one with clients meaning you are the sole focus.
Through my work, training, and personal experiences, I truly understand how it feels to be stuck—whether you're feeling lost, anxious, disappointed, or overwhelmed by emotions that seem to take over your life. I’ve been there myself, and it’s this shared experience that fuels my passion for helping others overcome these challenges and rediscover a sense of peace and control.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people facing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and stress. Many of my clients also come to me for support with grief, trauma, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and life transitions. Whether someone is struggling with persistent emotional pain or coping with a specific difficult event, I work with them to explore their feelings, identify the root causes of their struggles, and develop healthier ways to cope and move forward.
Practice description
My aim is to guide you to those answers in a way that feels right for you. After all, one size doesn’t fit all, and what works for someone else might not be what’s best for you. By helping you discover your own solutions, we can work together to ensure they’re truly aligned with your values and goals.
I work one-on-one with clients aged 18 and over, which means that our time together is entirely focused on you. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), self-reflection, and sometimes even humour—whatever feels most appropriate for you and your unique situation.
Each session is tailored to your specific needs and goals, and we will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Everything you share in sessions remains confidential, creating a space where you can be open and honest without fear of judgment.
A short story to explain my approach:
A man is walking down the street and falls into a deep hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out. A doctor walks by, and the man shouts up, "Hey, can you help me out?" The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down the hole, and moves on. Then a priest comes along. The man calls out, "Father, I’m stuck down here, can you help?" The priest writes a prayer, throws it down the hole, and walks away. Finally, a friend passes by. "Hey Joe, it’s me! Can you help me out?" And without hesitation, the friend jumps into the hole with him. The man looks at his friend and says, "Are you crazy? Now we're both stuck down here!" And the friend replies, "Yeah, but I’ve been down here before, and I know the way out."
