About me and my therapy practice
I have worked with adults and young people within both educational and therapeutic settings for over twenty years.
From the start of my career, I have worked in roles that have focused on enabling growth, change, and empowerment for individuals and communities. After studying applied theatre (educational, community and therapeutic contexts) I worked for a community education project supporting young people experiencing social and emotional challenges to reach their potential.
Subsequently, I worked in higher education both as a lecturer and disability practitioner developing a specialism in working with disabled young people and adults, long-term health conditions, neurodivergence and learning differences, mental health and wellbeing. These roles led me to develop invaluable skills and understanding of the power of authentic and enabling relationships and to complete my counselling and psychotherapy training.
I have worked as a therapist and wellbeing trainer/mentor at a London GP surgery, London Metropolitan University, Barnet Mind, the homelessness charity Crisis, Diversity & Ability (D&A) championing (neuro)Diversity and (dis)Ability inclusion and the REES Foundation supporting life-long help and support for care experienced people.
As a member of the Aashna Counselling and Psychotherapy creative team (www.aashna.uk/about), I am engaged in holding, developing and applying collective action in supporting difference, diversity and intersectionality in counselling and psychotherapy. A core enquiry of our work is the exploration:
“In the space between our distinct difference, and our shared humanity, there is a relational field that is both treacherous and charged with healing opportunities. If we learn to inhabit this field, we may create a home for our differences and a sense of belonging to our otherness.”

Practice description
My approach is relational and non-judgemental as I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is based on trust and honesty. Most importantly the way I work begins with listening. I am passionate about getting to know and understand those I work with to fully understand the difficulties they are experiencing and the goals they hope to achieve. A core question and enquiry that underpins my work with clients is 'What is getting in the way of love, relationship, community and vitality?'
As an integrative therapist, I draw on approaches informed by different theoretical and practice traditions in the field of psychotherapy including humanistic, psychoanalytic, trauma-informed, body-oriented and cognitive-behavioural (CBT) approaches to support your needs. Working relationally and exploring the relationship between us can enable understanding of challenges you may experience with relationships and intimacy.
Working with a systemic and social justice lens I understand individual struggles are never in isolation and the importance of exploring social norms and systems that often contribute to unhappiness. An engagement with philosophy, social theory, spirituality and gently encouraging your personal creativity is embodied in my approach.
You can expect a friendly, warm and confidential environment working with me. I aim to support you in exploring the relationship between your past and present in your intergenerational story, and develop greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily experience. I will be honest, reflective, open, and curious in our work. Together we will create a space for you to look in and experience yourself, then gather the strength to make changes that you hope for and greater vitality and meaning in life.

My first session
You are welcome to contact me to arrange an initial 20-minute, no-obligation telephone conversation to explore what brings you to therapy, and to ask any questions you may have.
During our first in-person session we will explore in greater depth what brings you to therapy, some details of your story and history and any additional questions you might have.
