About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Kerry, and in addition to traditional face to face counselling indoors, I offer something a little different - nature therapy. Walks and talks in a nature setting, working in and significantly with, nature.
Importantly, nature therapy doesn’t only offer ways to understand our issues, like anxiety, depression, trauma, and loneliness, but provides powerful ways of effecting change. The kind of change that helps us feel comfortable in our own body. In a nature therapy session it’s you, me, and nature working together to support your journey back to your true self, the one that’s always been there beneath the stress.
Practice description
When life throws a curveball our way, or we find ourself struggling with issues from the past, it can feel a lot easier to share the load, confidentially, with someone outside our immediate circle.
I’m an Integrative Therapist, and a key way in which I work is by supporting you to tune into your nervous system, helping you to not only make sense of what’s going on for you, but crucially empower you to find ways to self regulate and move forward with your life - think anxious fight or flight feelings, or flat and isolated. As we all have a nervous system, this way of working is incredibly effective for all ages.
Our journey together would also involve finding the root emotions of profound experiences that lead to issues like anxiety, depression, trauma and loss. These deeply ingrained painful emotions can be reshaped into more helpful, bearable, and accurate ways of understanding, making it easier to reframe those old, negative psychological stories we tell ourselves - this time in a more powerful, constructive way. The way in which I work complements working in nature with all ages; currently one to one work with adults; young people 15+
In addition to traditional sessions in my therapy room and one to one walks in a green space, I work as a counsellor in schools, offering both indoor and outdoor sessions.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and hold full indemnity insurance. In addition to availability in private practice, I’ve gained varied experience with the renowned Place2Be, Fegans Children’s Charity, Shaw Trust (community based work with adults, mainly GP referrals), as well as ongoing school based work.
