About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Phil.
I’m currently in the process of relocating my physical practice to the south coast, and so I’m not taking on new clients at the present time, until I have made the transition.
I wish you success in finding a therapist to work with.
Whatever your reason for seeking support right now, I’m glad you’ve found my listing.
I offer face-to-face sessions from my office in Walton-on-Thames, and also Zoom sessions
My fee is £75 for weekly sessions.
Practice description
All of us have personal vulnerabilities and unhelpful patterns that can get in the way of living the life we'd like to lead. Perhaps you're here today because you wish to discuss your vulnerabilities with someone who is trustworthy, kind, non-judgmental and confidential. I’m a firm believer that when met with compassion, acceptance and empathy, these vulnerabilities and patterns can slowly start to lose their power to disrupt our lives. The challenges of modern life mean that sometimes there just isn’t enough of these qualities “in the wild”, so I make them available to clients in my consulting room.
My aim, when we work together, is that we build a relationship where you feel truly heard, understood, accepted and supported for who you are. And that you feel able to trust me as we explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I like to think of it as a "collaborative alliance", one human sitting alongside another. It's that relationship that allows us to explore your concerns.
Therapy is not easy. It can get messy at times. It won’t always be linear. There's unlikely to be a single "breakthrough" moment, rather a series of reflections which slowly build deeper insight and understanding; and it requires commitment from both of us.
You may find that a few sessions can help you to address a specific problem, or you may choose to work on a longer-term basis in order to focus on deeper issues. You are unique and I will work with you to find out which approaches will work best for you. Whichever approach we agree on, be aware that counselling is not an easy journey and requires commitment; there is no magic wand!
My first session
I offer a free telephone consultation to see whether counselling might help you.
In the initial meeting, we will find out what you are looking for from therapy and what works for you.
I use an integrated approach to therapy that includes psychodynamic, person centered, existential and transpersonal models. If it is right for you, some of the ways we may work will be more creative, such as drawings, dreamwork, visualisations and mindfulness.
