About me and my therapy practice
The most important thing is that you are in control. Even if you are not sure where to start, part of the therapeutic journey is deciding how you want to regain control over your life and which direction you would like to take.
I specialise in trauma, anxiety and depression in the main, much of this involves a process of loss. I also support clients going through the journey of fertility and all that can entail. Often, sadly, the experience of trauma and fertility overlap. I am more than happy to answer any questions you have about my main areas of focus and
I have completed a wide variety of trauma training and worked with organisations delivering support to individuals who may have experienced abuse or survived traumatic incidents.
Having a business background, I tend to fold in a practical approach to therapy. I have a background of coaching in business prior to retraining as a counsellor. As a result I chose to train using the 'Integrative' approach. This draws on varied theories and interventions. It means that you, as a client, can work more creatively or another more cognitively. We would draw on tools and approaches that suit you and your needs. This approach keeps your requirements and goals front and centre.
Current Qualification Level - BA (Hons) Humanistic and Integrative Counselling: First Class
Practice description
I have over 20 years of experience working in the personal development and growth of others. Originally in the business environment and now through talking therapy, working with a strong set of values based around trust, honesty and confidentiality. I am passionate about mental health and how it is perceived.
You can book a FREE consultation in order to see how I work. I appreciate calling someone can be daunting. By coming for a short consultation, you can meet me and we can explore what you need without having to commit. You then take the time to decide what your next steps are.
I find that since the pandemic most clients wish to work more flexibly than before. Most people cannot now afford weekly sessions and find that fortnightly work better for their pocket. Equally, whilst clients have returned to face-to-face work, many still prefer to work remotely, either via telephone or video. I feel that a more flexible working approach is important for clients wishing to get the most out of their therapy experience.
Over the years I have developed and delivered stress management workshops, education and 1-1 support for employees and managers including coaching and mentoring. I continue to provide support for clients wishing to develop their professional skills or perhaps explore new directions for their career.
This is often, although not always, intertwined with therapeutic work. It sometimes comes as a surprise to clients how closely counselling and coaching can relate in terms of challenges addressed and tools used. Many of the tools are re-usable techniques and can help you develop skills for the future challenges you may face.
