About me and my therapy practice
I offer in a safe space, a kind, caring, gentle and welcoming counselling service. I have vast experience providing short term support in areas such as anxiety, trauma, ADHD and autism. I will help you to achieve your goals and develop who you want to be using many tools and techniques. I also offer long term psychotherapy if you have complex and multiple difficulties.
Whatever your circumstances, I appreciate making this first step can be a daunting experience for some, particularly those who may not have had counselling before. It can also be an exciting opportunity to create a fresh, bright and positive new journey into your future.
For those of you that feel like you have lost your way, I have a passion for helping people find their own identities and true voice, gaining confidence in their world. I offer an energetic, enthusiastic and honest approach to my practice within a comfortable and friendly environment. I have ten years’ experience working with clients in a solution focused approach. I work at a pace that suits you and your situation.
Although my training background is in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), I offer a flexible approach which may include other therapies. I am committed to continued learning and development and keep updated with the latest knowledge to help clients to the best of my ability. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) abiding by their code of ethics including regular supervision.
I hold a current DBS check.
I am a provider for WPA private health insurance.
Practice description
Experience
I have counselled children, young people and adults in national mental health organisations dealing with an extensive range of problems in a time limited capacity. These include anxiety, depression, OCD, self-harm, relationship issues, low self-esteem and loss. I also have vast experience supporting autistic clients.
I am a qualified life coach and offer counselling and coaching services combined for those who are interested in receiving help with achieving goals or overcoming barriers to success.
I have knowledge and experience counselling in surrogacy. I offer one to one therapy for IP’s (intended parents), surrogates and support workers coping with the unique challenges these journeys may bring. I have also provided supervision to staff members in a surrogacy organisation.
I have a post graduate diploma in trauma therapy supporting clients within this complex field. You may be suffering bodily symptoms as a result of trauma and we work together to make sense of them through therapies such as body psychotherapy (no touch).
In 2022, I completed an intensive eating disorder course to further enhance the level of interventions I can offer clients. Please note, I do not provide counselling for clients in eating disorders.
In 2023, I completed a foundation year course in Transactional Analysis (TA). This approach is incredibly helpful for uncovering unconscious processes and understanding relationships on a deeper level. Using TA, I can help you explore relationships that may have been or are difficult and stressful to navigate through. I offer therapeutic support to one partner that is part of a couple or family to understand their belief systems and how they can grow effectively as a unit. I am sorry but I do not counsel couples.
This year (2024), I am working towards both accreditation and then senior accreditation with BACP.
I am a fully qualified supervisor and offer supervision to trainee counsellors and qualified therapists.
My first session
THERAPY IS ONLINE VIA VIDEO LINK OR PHONE ONLY.
Your first session will be an assessment of your circumstances which will include me gathering information about your background and current situation. There will be no obligation for you to continue past this appointment but it will give you an opportunity to decide whether you feel like I am the right therapist for you.
I will discuss contracting with you at the beginning of the appointment which will include confidentiality, the limits, my membership with BACP and the different therapies I offer.
End of the appointment
I will explain exactly how I would be able to help you moving forward and discuss your expectations and goals for therapy.
However, if I feel that I do not have the necessary expertise or experience, I will discuss this with you and will refer you to a more appropriate counsellor or service.
