About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified accredited counsellor, and my approach has developed into a more integrative style, offering a core person-centred approach enriched with various approaches and requirements (for example; somatic, grounding, CBT, psychodynamic) to support the needs of clients during their sessions. Counselling involves being listened to, heard, and validated while discussing issues that affect you and your life.
You may experience down moods or anxiety. The person-centred counselling method works on the premise that you are the expert in your own lived experience. It does not prescribe actions, but I use measured interventions around CBT and mindfulness to address and challenge what is being discussed, also supporting exploration of the issues you face (such as anxiety). I can assist you in examining the challenges you encounter and provide interventions to help you focus on your feelings and reactions to these challenges, along with mental health support.
I have extensive experience in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, rape, and sexual abuse (whether recent or historic), helping clients examine their relationships and their roles within them. Additionally, I have significant experience aiding clients with PTSD symptoms, bereavement, and mild to moderate mental health issues.
Counselling can be challenging, and sometimes individuals might feel worse before they start to feel better.
You may have encountered bereavement, job loss, or relationship breakdowns affecting your mood and mental health. You might be facing multiple issues and struggling to cope, feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or stressed. This could impact your ability to express yourself, maintain relationships, or function in social situations. You may be questioning your relationship with alcohol or recreational drugs. Other issues might include childhood trauma, domestic abuse, bullying, sexual abuse, childhood sexual abuse, addiction, self-harm, or intrusive thoughts.

About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is a practice for counsellors and therapists to regularly ensure their work is conducted safely. Supervision provides the opportunity to discuss caseloads and current issues faced by therapists. It allows for self-reflection and identification of areas that might require attention or additional training. Discussing self-care is also part of supervision, emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal well-being.
I provide supervision remotely, via Zoom or Teams.
Supervision sessions are offered either monthly (one and a half hours) or fortnightly (one hour) to qualified and student counsellors/therapists. This complies with the client/supervision ratio stipulated by BACP guidelines and the framework set by educational institutions for student counsellors/therapists.
As a qualified Supervisor, supervision services are provided to both qualified and student counsellors/therapists. The agenda follows 'The Functional Model’ (Inskipp and Proctor):
"A working alliance between a supervisor and a counsellor in which the counsellor can present and reflect on her work, receive feedback, and, where appropriate, guidance. The aim of this alliance is to enable the counsellor to enhance ethical competence, confidence, and creativity to best serve her clients."
Practice description
I provide a complimentary 30-minute consultation for potential new supervisees. This session allows us to discuss my supervisory approach, which is based on the Functional model encompassing normative, formative, and restorative elements. During this time, we can address any questions you may have regarding my method of supervision and how it translates into supporting your practice.
My approach includes discussions of clinical work, focusing on areas such as challenges, competencies, and issues that may arise for you as a counsellor, including projection, stuckness, and transference. Additionally, this consultation allows me to share my experience and specialisms to determine if they align with your needs and preferred type of support, whether you are qualified or a student in placement. I have extensive experience supporting clients and supervisees dealing with issues such as domestic abuse, sexual abuse (both recent and historic), bereavement, complex PTSD symptoms, and various mental health concerns.
Furthermore, I offer supervision (clinical or non-clinical) to organisations requiring caseload supervision to assist their staff in managing stress and workloads within different sectors, such as the NHS, voluntary sector, and charity sector. I am available to discuss these services in more detail if needed.
This consultation also allows us to outline the terms of our contract and address any administrative requirements.
My first session
Prior to the initial supervisory session, the supervisee will complete a 30-minute introductory session. They will also receive an email with the necessary paperwork, including the supervisory contract. The supervisee should prepare an agenda outlining their caseload of clients and discussion points for the session.
An invoice will be sent after each supervision, requiring payment within 7 days of receipt. Organisations will receive an invoice after each supervision with their employee, and payment will be required within 28 days of receipt.
