Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

I work in Manchester city centre on a Tuesday and Wednesday during the day.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a trauma-informed, sex-positive therapist with initial training in the person-centred approach. Further training has included Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Inner Child work the use of the Rewind Technique to assist recovery from trauma.

Pronoun: she/her

I have worked in a variety of settings, including male and female prisons and with those dealing with issues around drug and alcohol use.

Practice description

I offer a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space in which you can explore any issues with which you feel you may need help; these include

• Depression

• Low self-esteem

• Bereavement and loss

• Psychological impact of trauma

• Self-harm

• Suicidal ideation

Having worked as a paramedic for over 28 years I have an excellent understanding of mental and physical health problems and how these may impact on your life. I have extensive experience of dealing with life-limiting conditions and End of Life Care.

I strive to create a therapeutic space and feel able to hear about and work with issues that people may find uncomfortable or distressing to discuss. Due to my experience, knowledge, training and skills, I have been able to therapeutically help people who have presented with complex issues such as violent crimes, gender-identity, questioning of sexuality and domestic violence amongst others. I am commencing training in January 2025 to gain a Professional Certificate in Psychosexual Therapy.

My journey through personal therapy and my subsequent training as a Counsellor have shown me how powerful counselling can be. For anyone who may be considering starting therapy for the first time, be assured that the decision to start counselling will be one of the bravest you have ever made but, potentially, one of the best.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy); as such I abide by its ethical framework, have regular supervision and engage in continuing professional development. I am enhanced DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service) and work with adults aged 18 and above.

I am happy to work in person, over the telephone or via Zoom.

My first session

I offer an initial, free assessment (lasting up to 30 minutes) which enables us to learn a little more about each other, allows you to ask questions and to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

I am happy to work over the telephone, via Zoom or face-to-face in our beautiful room in Manchester city centre.
