About me and my therapy practice
Many of us, for different reasons, find parts of our lives very difficult; sometimes overwhelming, and it takes immense courage to work at understanding the things that are unsettling us. Past experiences can mould the people we become and by thinking together we can help discover why patterns of behaviour exist and encourage new patterns for the future; the hope for lasting change.
My belief in an individual's ability to explore and evolve their understanding of themselves and their situation underpins my work. I 'walk with' those in distress and assist in helping manage and explore difficulties in an appropriately contained and supportive, yet challenging environment.
Developing a relationship of shared trust and respect is therefore essential for effective counselling, so it is important that there is a comfortable connection between client and counsellor. I provide a confidential place, free from judgement, for you to talk with someone about your concerns. I value each person's individuality and honour difference, diversity and inclusive practice within my work.
I have particular expertise in areas of difference and diversity (especially with gender dysphoria, gender, sexual and relationship diversity), and the impact of early separation on adult relationships.

About me and my therapy practice
I provide clinical supervision for trainees, recently-qualified and experienced practitioners. I am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor.
Hawkins & Shohet's Process Model of Supervision, Proctor's Model of Supervision (Learning, Support and Accountability), along with psychodynamic, transactional analysis, person-centred and solution-focussed modalities of counselling and psychotherapy, inform my work.
My working style is one of collaboration, whilst being mindful of differences in responsibilities, role, age, gender etc. in any supervisory relationship.
My expectations of you as a potential supervisee are that you will have professional indemnity insurance (either personally or via the organisation you work for) and that you are a member of a professional organisation, such as the BACP, and abide by its code of ethics.
I offer an introductory session to discuss your requirements for supervision, to clarify frequency of sessions based on your caseload, experience, accreditation requirements and to give us the opportunity to establish how we might work together.
I supervise counsellors at Leicester LGBT Centre, Coping with Cancer, The Laura Centre, Shama Women’s Centre, Galop and a London-based Transgender Voice & Speech Service, Macmillan Cancer Support, and various BACP Teams and have several years’ experience of providing both individual and group supervision, in addition to personal experiences of receiving individual, peer and group supervision.
I provide ad hoc ‘Ethics Surgeries’ to counsellors, psychotherapists and allied health professionals who need an experienced ear to guide the development of defensible ethical decision making. I also provide ad hoc gender and sexual diversity consultancy for counsellors, psychotherapists and other health professionals needing additional support.
