Practice description
I have been working using the full range of options below for many years, with really good feedback from my clients.
In person
I work from two comfortable clinics in Tynemouth and Newcastle upon Tyne on the North East coast of England.
Telephone
Most of us have easy access to a phone line and are used to speaking on the phone to friends, family and at work. Telephone counselling uses this familiarity and adds in the elements of confidentiality and making some space for ourselves that we get from attending a clinic.
Webcam
Many people like to see the person they’re talking with, and webcam counselling offers us the opportunity to see each other as we speak. It’s easy and secure, and as with telephone counselling we add in the element of making sure we won’t be disturbed.
Email Counselling
Email counselling is a flexible way to get support without having to commit to a timed session. You can write a 500-750 word email to me about any issue that’s worrying you and I will support you to understand better the difficulties you’re experiencing and think about ways to change things. Email counselling can be the only way to access therapy for some people like shift workers, carers and those who travel for work.
My first session
Our first session will always be a full history taking and assessment and includes some time at the end to discuss options for therapy together.

Availability
I run online EMDR supervision groups on Wednesdays and Fridays and these are my usual supervision days.
However due to the monthly nature of supervision meetings I may be able to accommodate individual supervision at other times.
Please get in touch to discuss participating in a regular EMDR supervision group or setting up individual supervision.
About me and my therapy practice
As a Clinical Supervisor I offer a collaborative environment in which we can focus on your current practice, professional wellbeing and development.
I supervise individual, trauma focussed and couple work.
I have additional training in offering telephone and online therapy (chat/email/video) and am happy to support therapists who work in this way with the slightly different requirements.
The current recommendation is that we carry out our supervision sessions in the same way as you offer therapy so please do check that you can attend in person in the North East of England if you are working in person with clients.
If you offer a mix of online and in person therapy we can incorporate a mix in our sessions.
Practice description
I work using an integration of psychodynamic and systemic therapy, with individuals and couples.
I am an accredited EMDR UK Practitioner and EMDR UK Consultant in training.
I have additional formal training as a Clinical Supervisor with Paul Grantham at SDS which maps onto the BACP requirements for supervision training, and as an EMDR Consultant with the EMDR Association UK.
I receive supervision of my Supervision on a monthly basis.
My first session
You can contact me via email or by phone to discuss availability. We would meet initially to establish whether we would like to work together and usually book in monthly dates at this point.
I have a formal supervision contract which sets out expectations on both sides and we will agree your goals for the year on a rolling basis.
