My practice is online, via video conferencing. I am able to offer counselling sessions on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, with the latest session ending at 8pm.
Working this way, either short term for an agreed number of weeks, or longer term, offers many advantages for you as a client including:
• You can choose the right therapist for you, rather than having to pick from those closest to you geographically.
• You can be comfortable in your own surroundings with no need to travel to a counsellor’s premises and may feel safer and more at ease to talk.
• Physical disabilities or psychological difficulties are no barrier to you getting the support you need.
If you’d like to find out more about how I work then you can book in for a free 15 minute introduction call by emailing me at andiechappell3@gmail.co.uk
About me and my therapy practice
It’s entirely normal to have an emotional response to situations we find difficult or are fearful of. For many people these emotional responses include anxiety, panic attacks, low mood and depression, anger or avoidance.
You may be feeling a decision you need to make seems impossible and worry about getting it wrong and this in turn causes you to feel stuck or unable to move forward in life.
You may need to talk through an experience and by talking to a friend or family member worry you are being a burden or they may see you differently or judge you.
You may have a problem you need to solve or you may not even know why you feel like you feel.
Regardless of the issues together we can explore whatever it is that’s going on for you, so that you are able to understand the cause(s) and manage your emotional responses and feel enabled to move forward.
Practice description
I'm Andie, a qualified and BACP accredited integrative counsellor. As an integrative counsellor I draw upon a variety of psychological theories to understand how human beings develop, learn and interact. My focus will be on valuing and accepting you as the unique individual that you are (Humanistic counselling), understanding how you have been shaped by your past experiences and how they affect you and your relationships (Psychodynamic therapy), and exploring the links between your thoughts, feelings and bodily responses to situations (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I also draw upon neuroscience to understand responses to stress and trauma and how to work with these.
You may have had a difficult start to your life. I have 10 years experience in working with children and young people aged 13-24, many of whom have experienced trauma.
Survivors of difficult childhoods, abuse, domestic violence and sexual violence. You might feel 'different' to others, struggle with anxiety, isolation and feelings of shame or be unsure how to feel safe in new relationships.
Our work will help you find strategies to help you cope with some of that distress and then support you in safely processing the trauma that you've experienced.
