About me and my therapy practice
Who is Kay Choudary? -I am an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist and qualified Traumatologist as well as an EMDR practitioner. I am in private practice at Harley Street, London and Collier Row, Essex. (currently on Zoom) I ensure that I stay up to date in my training by undertaking continuous professional development courses. I have worked in education for many years and have experience with children and adults. I also teach counselling to students. About Counselling First & EMDR Centre -Counselling First and EMDR Centre offers a safe, non-judgmental environment to help you find solutions to the issues you may be experiencing. Taking this first step was probably pretty scary and may have caused some anxiety, but reaching out is the beginning of feeling better and counselling can help you. Why Choose Kay?-I have over 18 years of experience and have qualified to postgraduate level. I am very experienced in working with individuals, couples or families I use many different approaches and will undertake assessments to find the best treatment for you. My specialist area is helping with all types of trauma and PTSD and this may be sexual abuse, domestic violence or emotional abuse, childhood neglect, including bullying in children or experiencing a particularly difficult event such as a car crash or seeing someone die or feel that you have been threatened and you thought you may die. I am trained to help you with all the aftermath of such trauma/abuse which often leads to low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and difficulty with relationships. Even if you have not experienced trauma you still may have depression, anxiety or relationship problems and I can help you to overcome these issues. I am also happy to accept EAP referrals.

I work online or in person, so timings are pretty flexible. I dedicate Monday mornings and Fridays to supervising colleagues and student counsellors but may have other times, please ask, not weekends though :) I am experienced in general counselling with a specialist interest in trauma work and EMDR.
In addition, I work as a CPCAB tutor and base my integrative practice in counselling on Clarkson's Framework. I am taking on qualified counsellors, and if you are a student counsellor who needs 45 minutes per fortnight or top-up time, I can also provide this. Individually or as group work.
About me and my therapy practice
As a long-standing integrative therapist (20 years +) and an experienced supervisor, I have the capacity to provide guidance and support to other therapists, trainees or qualified. I feel I have a good understanding of therapeutic techniques and approaches, including creative interventions. I have the ability to mentor and help develop individuals in the direction they want to go. In supervision, I believe three things will be covered in our work together: educational, ethical, and emotional support. I am also able to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism. Remember, mistakes are our friends if we learn from them.
Additionally, I am knowledgeable regarding ethical standards in therapy practice, and I am committed to creating a supportive and positive work environment for each of my supervisees.
Practice description
What you should expect from me...
As a qualified or a student counsellor, you can expect me as your supervisor to provide guidance, support, and mentorship as you navigate your role as a counsellor.
I should offer constructive feedback on your counselling techniques, help you develop your skills and knowledge in the field, and assist you in addressing any challenges or concerns that may arise during your practice.
I should also ensure that you adhere to ethical standards and best practices in counselling, provide a safe and supportive work environment, and be available to discuss any professional issues or personal difficulties you may encounter.
Overall, as your supervisor, I should be a trusted mentor who helps you grow and succeed in your counselling career. I will strive to provide this for you.
