About me and my therapy practice

You may find yourself coming to therapy in crisis, feeling distressed, unhappy, confused, or wanting to understand yourself better. As a psychotherapist, I draw on existential and psychodynamic approaches to meet your individual needs; I offer long term psychotherapy, or short term work focused on specific issues.

I bring natural warmth, genuineness and curiosity to my work as a therapist. I am passionate about offering an environment where you can explore what is troubling you without fear of criticism or judgment. Central to my work is you as an individual, your own experience and the ways in which you understand what's been happening.

I work with people across the life-span and from all walks of life. You may have a specific issue/s that you wish to address. Sometimes the problem can be more difficult to pin down. It may feel like there are difficulties that overlap and are harder to untangle.

Practice description

Through engaging in a compassionate, collaborative process that helps us to think about our challenges, therapy can allow us to open up possibility, even in areas of our lives that feel stuck. It can be an opportunity to begin facing up to parts of our lives and ourselves that have previously felt too painful to think about and understand. Therapy can help to increase our self awareness and help us to notice and feel more in control of repetitive and painful patterns of behaviour.

I’m interested in how the experiences of our childhood and in our families influence our development and later lives. We may repeat early patterns of relating, and of protecting ourselves, even when they are no longer helpful and may even unknowingly maintain our current problems. Through understanding these patterns and how they’re limiting us, it’s possible to begin making choices that can help us lead a more fulfilling life.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a registered trainee member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

My first session

Initially I offer a consultation process which will help us to think about your needs and whether my approach can be helpful for you. If you are interested in working with me, or have any queries, please feel free to contact me via email or phone. If I'm not available right away, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. You may wish to leave me a message suggesting a time for me to call you.
