About me and my therapy practice
I offer a compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever your need is right now. As both a Gestalt and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) practitioner, I encourage a gentle awareness of how we are in the present moment - this is where change can take place.
I work collaboratively, supporting clients to discover more of who and how they are. Alongside talking and being heard, this could involve experimenting with posture, breath, movement, voice - building awareness of how we may be holding ourselves back, and of where our resources may be lying hidden.
I am trained in person centred counselling, Gestalt psychotherapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. My work is nourished by my daily mindfulness meditation practice.
I work with adults and young people from 16 upwards in my private practice. In addition, I work for a Winchester-based youth counselling service, and I have several years' experience working with young people in sixth from settings.
I am on the team at New Forest Mindfulness, and have experience teaching the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course.
As a Gestalt therapist, I believe relationship is where we learn about ourselves and grow, and finding the right therapist is very important.
Please do get in touch if you'd like to find out more.
Practice description
My work is informed by my core training as a Gestalt therapist. In addition, I have trained in Mindfulness and Mindful Self Compassion, which means that I aim to cultivate a friendly, compassionate and non-judgmental space for our work together.
I believe there is always a well-intentioned reason behind how we show up in the world today and this is worthy of our kindly interest and respect. By building a compassionate awareness of how we are, we become better able to identify where change, if needed, may come.
I work in a trauma-sensitive way and have trained extensively with trauma specialist Babette Rothschild and have completed her Somatic Trauma Therapy training. In addition, I have trained with David Treleaven and adhere to his trauma-sensitive mindfulness approach.
My first session
To begin with, I offer an introductory session which I call an Intake session. This session is a great opportunity to get a feel for working together, and explore a little of what leads you to therapy. It also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about working together.
Finding the right therapist is very important, and after the Intake session, I encourage people to take 24 hours to reflect on the session before letting me know if they would like to go on to work together. There is no obligation to go on to work together after the Intake session.
Occasionally I may feel somebody would be better served by working with another therapist who has expertise in a particular area. Intake is also the place for me to see whether I can be of help to you too.
I charge £30 for the Intake session which is payable via BACS transfer within 24 hours of the session.
If we each decide to go on to work together, we commit to a day and time to meet weekly for the duration of your therapy.
Therapy sessions after Intake are charged at £60 per session.
