About me and my therapy practice

I am based in Newtownabbey and have been counselling since 2009.

I offer you a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings around issues that are affecting both your mental health and your overall wellbeing. I will help you begin to make sense of what your are going through and explore both past and present events that are having a negative impact on your day to day life. I will listen and encourage you to be open about your situation and bring new perspectives for you to explore. I want you to feel connected and empowered so you can begin to move away from the situation you find yourself in having gained clarity and new insights you can use to help cope in the present and future.

I have experience working within a GP Practice, a local community based counselling centre and currently work within a community drugs and alcohol charity.

"I LOOK WITHIN TO FIND MY TREASURES" - One of my favourite quotes from author Louise Hay.

Practice description

I am a Person-Centred counsellor which means that I believe my clients have within them, all they need to survive and thrive. As we face adverse experiences and pressures sometimes our ability to cope diminishes and we can find ourselves stressed. If not addressed the stress can affect our mental health e.g lead to not sleeping, anxiety, depression etc. My approach is client-led and what you bring to me is what we look at together. If you are dealing with intrusive/negative thoughts Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy can be used, looking at thought processes and how they impact your life. The Psychodynamic Approach can also be helpful if you believe events in your past impact you in the present day. Counselling gives you an opportunity to reflect and deal with these events in the here and now.

In my Practice I adhere to the BACP standards, assuring you of ethical practice and professionalism at all times.
