About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page. As a Person-Centred Counsellor & Psychotherapist I strive to honour your ability to self-direct; to trust that at your core you know what direction to take & what you need on your unique path. I facilitate the discussion between aspects of yourself; all the while providing a genuine relationship that's radically accepting & non-judgemental; as well, honest in communicating realistically on expectations.
About me: I am a cis female of mixed European and North African heritage, with interests in creative practice & the natural, energetic world. I have over a decade of experience as a Counsellor & 7 years as a Trainer. Though, my learning & awareness has been through the exploration of personal & societal challenges, coupled with deep reflection. I have also experienced 'life changing' altered shifts in energy, which now form part of 'a flow' present within my therapeutic practice.
If you are interested in the more than human world, then counselling within nature can be arranged. Sessions can be scheduled outside as walk & talk, or as an Eco therapy-programme. This can offer grounding & authentic connection, ample opportunity for metaphor as well as an aid to self-regulation.
Regardless of where we meet & what format, it's my responsibility to create an environment that feels safe, accepting & understanding. Moreover, to fully acknowledge your culture, workplace, family, heritage, power & disempowerment.
My embodied person-centred approach ultimately means I strive to return control to you. As such my position within the relationship isn’t to advise, rather facilitate discovery of aspects of you; including contradicting parts & default positions. Potentially aiding long-term change & fostering continued self-understanding & connection to self.
I work with individuals, couples, young people, families, supervisees and groups. Sessions can be held in room, outdoors, online or on the phone.
Practice description
I meet with individuals, couples, young people, families & groups. Individual sessions are 50-min, couples/more than 1, duration, 90-mins. Sessions are face-to-face, outdoors, or remote. Regardless of location, or expression I am vested in your direction and promotion of authenticity, as well simply, yet powerfully, being a companion for where you are.
Outdoors
If you have restricted mobility, we can meet at an agreed outdoor location, or walk and talk along the wooded pathways towards the shoreline.
Creative
I facilitate a creative expression of meaning through arts & sand tray. I am also happy to work with further creative expressions you have an interested in.
Experience
The counselling profession & I aligned in 2011, since then I have gained experience in charities, education & private practice. I also teach and work as a supervisor. I am attachment & trauma informed & educated in polyvagal theory.
I partake in professional development to revisit & learn more. I also work to take myself out of my own bubble in order to meet what I am not aware of. This includes, but isn’t limited to understanding the impact of social deprivation, differing abilities, neo-conventional family structures & discrimination based upon race & ethnicity. Gender, Sexuality, Relationship, Diversity (GSRD) & Neurodivergence.
Do let me know if any adjustments on Zoom, or in room are required - I will be happy to accommodate.

My first session
The Initial Session
For individuals I offer an initial 30-minute session, in-room, or via phone or video link. For couples, or alternative programmes this is a full hour.
If sessions are scheduled in person, meeting in room can be helpful as this will be are continued space. The room is bright, yet cosy, located on the first floor of Hamble Memorial Hall. It offers a lift, parking, disabled toilets & disabled parking. If you need adjustments please say.
Regardless of the platform of communication it is your chance to see if therapy with me is something you'd like to pursue. It's also opportunity for you to explore what you'd like to achieve, as well, provide insight into how I work. The counselling agreement-contract, including the boundaries and limitations of the sessions are also explained. If we continue, we find a mutually agreeable time/day to meet, ideally on a regular basis.
Initial/assessment session
Face to face (initial) - £25 (30-minute)
ZOOM (initial) - free (30-minute)
Forward planning
Within the initial session, it can be helpful to discuss a realistic amount & frequency of sessions. Bear in mind that there is no normal, rather we establish whether what you present can be aligned to the number of sessions - as there maybe ethical implications. Although, following the opening of 'Pandora's Box' a re-assessment on the amount of sessions could be necessary. Meaning, without the veil that may have afforded protection, there maybe more to unpack.
When it isn't wise to continue
These include: If we have someone in common. You are currently experiencing something that in the present moment could be harmful for you to explore. If there is violence towards the partner you are seeking counselling with. Medical assistance. Or major limits to my understanding – as such, it could be better to refer to a colleague more informed by lived experience, or another profession.
