About me and my therapy practice
My name is Charlotte Lawrence and I am a qualified counsellor with over 18 years experience. I offer a professional counselling service in a supportive, non- judgmental environment where you can safely and confidentially explore your concerns.
My personal life experiences and own experiences of counselling have taught me the value of having the space to safely explore issues and to understand how healing it can be to be really heard and accepted.
I originally trained as a Person - Centred counsellor, however, I now consider myself to be an Integrative counsellor, which means I use an array of interventions, tailored to suit individual client's needs.
I believe that, as every client who I work alongside is unique, their needs will be too. I consider what ways of working with them might be of most benefit to them. This may include talking therapy, using art, play, guided visualisations and a variety of interventions for reducing trauma.
I am an accredited member of the BACP and work in accordance with their professional ethics. I am a qualified clinical Supervisor.
For over a decade I worked as a Complex Needs Counsellor, Supervisor and Clinical Lead for a local charity which supports survivors of sexual violence. I specialised in working with people who have been traumatised or have complex mental health issues as a result of abuse , such as Post Traumatic stress Disorder or Dissociative disorders.
In my Private Practice, I welcome working with an array of issues and concerns clients may present. I offer long or short term therapy depending on what each individual needs, with regular reviews being undertaken together to check the goals the client has set for therapy are being addressed.
My first session
I offer an initial assessment appointment so you can explore if I am the right therapist for you. This also helps me to gain a deeper understanding of what you feel you are wanting to achieve from therapy. The assessment can take up to an hour and is charged at a reduced fee.
