About me and my therapy practice
If your life has become consumed by anxiety, and you can't focus because you're living in your head, you probably don't feel yourself anymore.
However, working together, we could find a way forward for you and get you back on track.
It may seem like the more you try, the worse it gets. After a while, you might fear that your problems will impact your relationship, family and job.
The 'what-if' thoughts run riot with your emotions, and you can't sleep because of all the stress.
With all that going on, you may have become preoccupied with your troubles and feel everyone except you is doing OK. It's awful if you constantly feel like an outsider.
You might feel exhausted trying to make things right, but alone too because you haven't found someone to talk to that you can trust.
Other things you might experience include:
- Avoiding social situations
- Compulsive people-pleasing
- Feeling alone when in a crowd
- A sense of powerlessness or being small
- Believing you're less important than others
- Feeling sorry for yourself
- Fearing the worst
- Criticising others or yourself
- Panic attacks and other physical symptoms
If only it would stop.
You wish you could step back from overthinking all the time, getting frustrated and blurting out things you regret.
I say you can get control over your reactions.
Like many people called to become counsellors, I've had personal experience with some of these things. I know how hard it can feel, merely surviving in a world that seems like a hostile place.
Why just survive when you want to live a good life?
You may feel lost and alone, but talking to people can be problematic. Are you just offloading your problems onto them? Will they get tired of hearing about your troubles? Can you trust them to keep your secrets?
It would be like heaven just to feel normal again!
How would it be to sort things out for yourself, heal those strained relationships and feel like you belong?
Practice description
I'm a male counsellor based near Rotherham with plenty of experience in mental health work.
I offer anxiety counselling, anger management and help with low self-esteem.
I know what it's like to fall on hard times, and I aim to understand you in the hope you understand yourself.
Sharing your troubles with a counsellor might help you see more clearly and feel better. Your confidence could return, and you'll likely find healthy ways of dealing with your conflicting emotions.
Then, you could heal and be yourself again.
I know it can be hard to reach out for help, but the people who have worked with me now enjoy much better lives.
I can't promise that counselling will be quick or painless, but you can get there if you keep going.
Furthermore, I have a flexible approach to private practice.
I know you may work shifts or have family commitments, so a weekly session at the same time might be out of the question.
To make counselling accessible, I encourage sessions at intervals and times that suit you.
Additionally, you may mix the types of counselling you have. For example, you may wish to have some sessions online via video, telephone, text or email.
My therapy room is easy to get to. It's near Wath upon Dearne town centre and bus station, and there are several free car parks to choose from. Wath upon Dearne is bang in the middle of Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, so not far to travel if you're in South Yorkshire.
Call me soon or visit my website booking page and make an appointment to see how easy I am to talk to and start to get your life back on track.
I believe the truth will set you free.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute consultation:
- As an initial stand-alone chat
- Or as part of the first hour's session
I will answer any questions about how I work and help you establish your aims in counselling. Also, I will discuss how you think we can work together so you know what to expect.
If I know of another professional I feel is more suitable for the issues you bring to counselling, I may signpost you to them. My remit is to do what is right and fair for you.
I will ask you to complete three simple forms, which are part of the UK's legal and ethical requirements for private practice.
There is no obligation to continue seeing me if you are in the process of finding the right counsellor for you.
I believe if we're a good fit, your counselling will be effective.
