About me and my therapy practice
I work therapeutically with adult individuals, as well as with children, young people and families, to support them in getting to where they need to be. There are many different counselling and therapeutic theories, and spending time together with people who would like my help, we work out together which approach or approaches are going to be the most comfortable fit for them.
People seeking help can work with me either in the Lincoln, Newark or Mansfield areas.
Over the past 17 years, as well as working with adults, I have specialised in working with children aged 6 – 12, using a combination of talking therapy and creative therapies, such as non-directive therapeutic art and creative activities, drama therapy and therapeutic play. This includes children who have been diagnosed with learning disorders, eg. ADHD, ADD, ODD, PDAS and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
Similarly, I am also very experienced in working with young people, using age-appropriate interventions to help with issues such as low self-esteem, low mood, self-harm, identity or gender or sexuality issues, etc. We often work together with creative therapies to support the therapeutic process of the young person.
There are often times when my waiting list can be quite busy, but if I cannot help enquirers within a time-frame to suit them, I am happy to refer them on to suitable colleagues, who I think will suit their needs. It is important to me to support people to find the help they need, if I am not free to provide it myself.

About me and my therapy practice
I have been practising as a therapist since 2007, originally with adults and young adults but latterly undertaking further training/qualification in 2010 and periodically since then to enable me also to work ethically with children and young people. In all cases, my client work is delivered within a humanistic and Person Centred framework, incorporating TA, CBT, STSF, or psychodynamic perspectives as may be appropriate for the client, who leads me as our work develops.
In recent years, I have undertaken training with The Albany Centre and now hold a Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling. Although I don't have capacity to take on adoption support work, it does mean that I now have a particularly in-depth appreciation of childhood trauma, of attachment difficulties, disorders, of how to start to repair such disruptions, etc.
Over recent years, much of my work has been with children and young people in schools and universities, including work in an additional needs school. I am very comfortable, therefore, supervising either experienced/qualified or student counsellors working with this or any other client group. I enjoy seeing those students blossom and subsequently move from their placements into paid work, with my support. It is rewarding also to support more experienced practitioners in developing, both professionally and personally.
In keeping with much of my own private practice, many of my supervisees also work with CYP and often benefit from guidance as to how schools 'work' and what processes there are there, for example, where a client may be exhibiting signs of a learning disorder or disability, or where a disclosure is made.
I offer concessions to student therapists and/or those on a limited income. I have been there!
