About me and my therapy practice
Hello and a warm welcome to my profile.
Life doesn’t get better by chance, it gets better by change.
My curiosity lies within exploring your current challenges, what may be keeping you in the past, what may be enabling your current struggles and how you can utilise your strengths to help you to move forward. Life can be difficult to navigate, it provides opportunities but it is sometimes not an easy road to travel. It is during these challenging times when you may feel that you would like an opportunity to talk to someone, in a non-judgmental, confidential space. To be heard and understood, whilst also being open to gentle challenges.
Within my 21 years of counselling experience, I have worked in a variety of Registered Charities, as a Counsellor working with Adults, Children and Young People. I have also been afforded the opportunity to be a Counselling Team Manager and a Qualified Counselling Supervisor.
My personal life experience has provided me with an opportunity to experience both good and poor emotional wellbeing. As a human, we are all susceptible to experience a range of emotional difficulties, none of us are immune to mental health. I believe that my experience has enabled me to develop an empathy and gain a better understanding of my clients journey. Counselling helped me to gain perspective and to become aware of the importance of self-care and self-compassion. In exploring my difficulties and obtaining an understanding my coping mechanisms (some of which were negative) and by challenging my assumptive thinking, I was able to achieve a better understanding and able challenge myself to do something different. Perhaps counselling could do the same for you too.
Practice description
I offer an integrative approach, drawing on a number of therapeutic approaches. I recognise that a one-size-fits-all therapy approach does not meet the needs of individuals, so I will work with you to find out how I can best support you. My approach includes self-directed goals, creativity and CBT techniques. I am also a qualified LEGO Therapist.
My first session
I understand how important it is to find the right therapist for you, or your child. For this reason, I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation, to allow you to ask me any questions and to enable an opportunity to experience how we may work together, before you make a financial commitment.
I will provide you with a copy of my Privacy Statement and Counselling Agreement, on booking an Initial Consultation.
