About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome, I am committed to giving psychological care which is evidence based, professional, safe and ethical. I offer a free 15 minute telephone or video consultation so we can have an initial chat and answer any questions you may have.
I have been working with people for over 15 years within the NHS, through workplace providers and privately, who have been experiencing difficulties in their lives, emotionally distressed or struggling in some way. This may be with anxiety and depression, low self esteem following a relationship break up, or have gotten into the habit of thinking about themselves or the world negatively.
I am a qualified BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner, warm, approachable and work in a collaborative and pragmatic way, with the aim to provide you with the space and opportunity to restore and develop new ways of coping.
Practice description
The therapies I offer are Counselling and EMDR.
Counselling offers a time and space to gently explore your thoughts and feelings, we can also look for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis too. I have many strategies I can teach you to help with low mood or anxiety.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapy that is used to help people to recover from traumatic or distressing incidents and alleviate symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks and other problems the experience may have caused, such as anxiety or depression. If you have experienced a particularly distressing event or trauma and have tried everything you can but still can't avoid thinking about it or getting triggered by things that take you back there, had a difficult childhood or relationships that continue to effect you. I can help you move from the past and into the present and future.
To find out more about EMDR the website emdrassociation.org.uk has lots of useful information.
If you decide you would like to work with me, we can talk about your preferences and whether you would like a proactive approach or wish to use the sessions more gently explore the issues you bring.
Counselling can be short-term and longer-term, telephone or online via Zoom or Teams.
EMDR is online via Zoom or Teams.
