About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my page. I am a counselling psychotherapist with 10 years experience offering long and short term counselling to adults. I am fully accredited, meeting the BACP’s 'higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner'.

My areas of expertise include loss and bereavement, trauma, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and helping you find meaning in your life.

I am also trained in Rewind Therapy which is very effective for phobias triggered by a specific incident.

Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by life's pressures and difficulties and this can cause problems such as anxiety and depression. Past or present issues can cause emotional turmoil and it can be difficult to make sense of life's puzzle.

I offer a safe, warm, non judgmental environment where you might be able to put some of the pieces back together and hopefully find a way forward.

I work integratively, meaning I can draw on different theories to suit each individual client, their needs and issues. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly.

I am experienced in working with childhood issues, exploring your early attachment and any childhood trauma. However you may choose to focus on current issues and that’s ok too.

I know from my own experience of therapy that it takes a lot of courage to take that first step, and I will do my best to make you feel settled and comfortable.

I have regular clinical supervision of my work and I am fully insured.

I’m happy to see trainee counsellors at a reduced fee for either counselling or supervision.

Benefits of counselling can include:

Increased confidence and self esteem

Clarification of thoughts and feelings

Opportunity for personal growth and increased self awareness

Better understanding of how past experiences may be influencing the present

More effective communication in relationships

Better able to cope in difficult circumstances

Practice description

My personal approach

I believe a empathic, non judgemental, genuine relationship between counsellor and client is a central aspect to a positive therapeutic outcome. This can help with giving space to explore difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, contained environment.

My first session

The first session is a chance to meet each other and see if you feel we could work together. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. There will be time to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have. You can then book ongoing sessions if you would like to.
