About me and my therapy practice

I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and my initial training was as an Integrative Counsellor.  I have over a decade of experience working as a psychotherapist both in the NHS in Adult Mental Health and in private practice and have also worked in a local counselling organisation.

At times life can feel difficult to manage and can leave us feeling alone and often afraid, feeling that we need some support and understanding from a professional.  Other times we may feel we have been through something that has been hard to make sense of and want to have someone to help us think things through in order to try and have a better understanding.

My practice is to work alongside people in order to help them gain some insight and understanding about their difficulties as well as feel supported and heard. Depression, anxiety, loss and separation are some of the more difficult issues we come up against in life.

I offer a quiet, confidential and non-judgemental space to think together in order to support and help you in thinking about yourself in relation to others and the outside world and the difficulties that might arise from this.

My practice is to have a consultation period which would normally be two or three sessions. This allows me the time to meet you and also, importantly, you to meet me, providing an important space for us to think together what might be the most suitable way forward in terms of therapy for you. We may decide that is with me  but if not, for whatever reason, I can then help you find someone to suit your needs.

My practice is to work at a minimum of once weekly therapy but can also work more intensively if this is needed.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with an initial background in Integrative counselling.

I provide supervision in psychodynamic/psychoanalytically informed counselling or psychotherapy in Central Exeter for fully trained and trainee therapists and counsellors.

Practice description

I have a background in Integrative counselling and practice as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I have an MSc from The University of Exeter in psychological therapies and have qualified as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy, Bristol.

I have over a decade of clinical experience in private practice, the NHS working in Adult Mental Health and working for a local counselling organisation.

I have also, in the past, worked with youth offenders and vulnerable adults in Police Custody which was a valuable experience in learning to work and think under intense emotional pressure in an often hostile and frightening environment. I felt this was an invaluable experience which facilitated my learning about myself, particularly strengthening my capacity to sit with and suffer being in the “unknown” which we often find ourselves in in the therapy space.
