About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for enquiring about how I can support you. Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information.
I have been working in the NHS for 40 years as a registered nurse and in more recent years as a counsellor. I specialise in women's mental wellbeing , this includes the psychological effects of menopause, worries and concerns regarding pregnancy and birth, post natal mental health and infertility issues. I have worked in a licensed fertility centre and maternity services for around 15 years.
My work also includes supporting families where there has been pregnancy and baby loss.
I work with couples in my private practice and the NHS. I consolidated this work with a couples counselling qualification in more recent years.
I welcome enquiries from those experiencing low mood and worry too. Sometimes we cannot find the words to describe how we feel. Counselling can support you in exploring this.
My NHS employment and accreditation with the BACP ensure that I am compliant with the conditions of my registration which is important for clients and myself!
Practice description
Counselling sessions are on line via Zoom and in person. They last for 50 minutes.
For me the counselling work is about supporting the client in the best way I can using a variety of therapeutic interventions based on individual need. These include, psychodynamic, CBT, Person Centred, existential and mindfulness work. I encourage clients to be curious!
My first session
Our initial counselling session is for us to meet and for me to start to understand how I can best support you. The cost per session is £60.00. At the end of the first session I will draw things to a close with a summary and a conversation about the way forward. Some clients come with specific issues, other with more diffuse issues. Sometime longer term work may be helpful, sometimes a few sessions are enough.
We can work collaboratively to look at a way forwards.
During this initial session we discuss and agree the boundaries of our work and confidentiality too.
