About me and my therapy practice

I am an accredited psychodynamic therapist, which means I work with your formative (early childhood) experience as well as the here and now.

I see all my clients regularly, for a fifty minute session every week.

I have over 14 years of varied experience with a diverse range of people.

I am especially experienced in working with women around issues if identity and motherhood and post natal depression.

I can offer time limited or more in depth, long term counselling.

I know how hard it can be to make the step to come for counselling. I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space in which to listen and explore your concerns and the feelings you are struggling with.

My practice is online only.

Practice description

I work online with clients from across the UK.

We always have an initial, no commitment consultation, to see if  ongoing counselling with me would be right for you.

I have a clear contract which explains the way I work, which I will explain at the start of the counselling.

I offer weekly sessions of 50 minutes using Zoom.

About me and my therapy practice

Essentially I work by listening to your story and the difficulties bringing you to counselling.

We may work short term (approx 10-12 sessions) or open ended, depending on your aims.

With short term therapy, the scope of the work will be limited to a particular area of concern.

In open ended therapy we will work at more depth, which can bring more lasting change for you. Exploring your life and relationships both in the here and now and also in  your early life, we can start to understand the ways in which you were formed psychologically and how this impacts you now. This knowledge can bring a new awareness and freedom to move forward from unhelpful feelings and belief systems. This can only be achieved within the context of a trusting relationship. I always work at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you and I encourage an ongoing review of our work.

Single session therapy - 90 minutes focussing on a particular issue or concern. Suitable for you if you are struggling with a big transition or if you are curious about some aspect of yourself/ your relationship and interested to see if therapy could help.

Practice description

My practice is face to face or online via Zoom (online only in Cardiff/Brighton).

The first meeting is an assessment to see if I am the right therapist for you. There is no commitment until after the assessment. Subsequent sessions take the form of a conversion. Going at a pace that's right for you, I will help you to unpack whatever is troubling you and together we will explore new ways to understand yourself and perhaps move forward.

The idea of working online can be a little daunting, however the screen is soon forgotten and the therapy is just as effective as face to face therapy. Online is not for everyone though and this can be determined at assessment.

Sessions, once begun are usually at the same regular weekly time and last 50 minutes or 60 for couples.

Online clients must be in a private place for the sessions and with good internet connection.

I have a detailed contract explaining how I work. I do charge for missed sessions with no exceptions.

My first session

The initial consultation is a chance for us to both find out a bit more and to see if ongoing counselling with me would be right for you.

I will explain the contract and we may agree a timescale or to work open ended.

The fee is the same as for other sessions.
