About me and my therapy practice
My background is in the area of psychology and mental health. My approach to counselling is integrative. I use a blend of several methods and theories to support clients through their difficulties. This includes person-centred therapy, attachment, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and compassion focused therapy.
I aim to help clients develop an understanding of how their problem came about in order to settle on an appropriate way forward from which people will derive long lasting benefit.
Experience
I am qualified to work with young people and adults with any problem. I work with individual clients from various age groups and ethnic backgrounds. I provide a non-judgmental, confidential and empathic service for many of life’s problems. For example, depression, anxiety, OCD, abuse, trauma, anger management, bereavement, eating difficulties, low self-esteem, self-harm, postnatal depression, stress, sexual problems, addictions and relationship issues.

Practice description
I am currently offering in-person opportunities for face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy sessions in Broomhill, Sheffield (The Practice Rooms) and Matlock, Derbyshire (Matlock Therapy Centre). These venues are very well-maintained therapy centres and within prime locations for accessibility.
I also offer sessions online (via Zoom). Online therapy is considered highly effective. If we agree to work online we can discuss any issues this may pose in your initial consultation.
Therapy is a collaborative process. Together we will build a trusting and supportive relationship that will enable you to change and grow.
My approach is empathic and non-judgemental. I tailor my approach to allow your needs to guide our work. At your own pace, we will address the cause of your distress and the behaviour patterns that are limiting your progress.
My first session
The initial session of 50 minutes is an opportunity to see how we can work together, explore your expectations and desired outcomes from therapy, and for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the counselling process. Offering you a safe space to be seen and heard is my main priority.
This session is an opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable to work with me. We will then arrange a mutually convenient day and time for our sessions. If you require a flexible time slot for counselling, this can also be arranged. All subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes.
Prior to the first session, I will send you a copy of my Client Agreement, which includes Online Therapy Guidelines and a short questionnaire to help gather information about what you would like to explore in counselling. These can be filled out during the first session and any questions arising from these documents can be discussed during this initial session.
