About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my page, I offer individual counselling to adults, children and young people and family therapy. More recently I have been offering clients therapeutic yoga sessions
When working with clients I believe the most important part of the process is building therapeutic relationships and alliances to create a safe space to explore sensitive and complex issues.
I offer an holistic empathic approach to counselling and therapeutic work that considers the relationship between the physical body, mental health, emotional states and human spirit.
As a counsellor my specialism is supporting clients living with the ongoing physical and mental health issues attributed to an autoimmune condition. I have also developed a particular interest in helping clients recover from the complex nature of narcissistic relationships.
Practice description
Individual Counselling
My passion for counselling adults and young people with a range of presenting issues comes from the personal challenges I have faced in life and learning to manage and balance a range of emotional and practical needs to overcome difficult situations.
Child & Adolescent Counselling
I work in age appropriate and creative ways that suit each individual, this could include: drawing, modelling clay, Russian dolls, buttons, writing poems or songs and when preferred I also use suitable talking interventions when required.
Family Therapy
Family counselling can be a useful place to explore and better understand family dynamics and behaviours. There are many ways differences between adults and children within your family can show up. Time in family therapy can be a safe place to explore and identify these differences and begin the process of working together to find an appropriate solution.
Yoga Therapy
Is a one to one trauma informed and embodied approach that integrates counselling and specific yoga practices to regulate the autonomic nervous system. This is especially useful when working with a range of physical and mental health issues
Working therapeutically 1:1 involves a consultation to understand your health and lifestyle needs, and helps inform which yoga practices would best support you. All sessions are respectful of your your body and it's existing range of movement and are adapted to help rehabilitate any injury.
My first session
ADULTS
Our first meeting is an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other and ask questions. We will discuss confidentiality of sessions and documents and you will have the opportunity to share your personal circumstances, identify and prioritise key issues to work on. We will discuss the frequency of your appointments, regular reviews and overall duration of time in counselling.
CHILDREN/YOUNG PEOPLE
At a child or young person's first appointment I invite parents to attend for under 16's, so they can ask questions and I have the opportunity to share information regarding confidentiality, the frequency of appointments, regular reviews and overall time in counselling. The young person will have the opportunity to share their personal circumstances, identify and prioritise key issues to work on.
FAMILIES
When working with families I prefer to met with the parents initially to gather a case history. All other sessions will involve the children and parents working together.

About me and my therapy practice
As a supervisor I work with supervisees in ways that develop and expand their working edge of self-awareness around transference, counter-transference, ethical dilemmas, safeguarding, theoretical knowledge, professional boundaries and legal issues and that may arise when working with clients.
I act as a resource to supervisees by sharing my counselling skills, theoretical knowledge, CPD and experience of working in organisations with different cultures and practices.
I will challenge poor practice to give the supervisee the opportunity to expand their skills and increase the safety of their practice.
Practice description
My approach in supervision is integrative and includes interventions from Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, CBT, Transactional Analysis and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
I have extensive experience of counselling young people and adults across the Voluntary Sector, NHS, Education, EAP and in private practice.
My supervision practice has welcomed practitioners and trainees from a variety of working environments, counselling approaches and professional bodies.
During my time as a clinical supervisor I have had the opportunity to successfully support supervisees through their journey to professional body accreditation.
