I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons/evenings with my last appointment at 6pm.  So from 1pm - 6pm x3 days a week in my private practice.  This is because I work in clinic settings at other times.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and have been accredited by the BACP since 2012.  I have also been accredited by BICA (www.bica.net) since 2017. Additionally I provide Life Coaching and also have a Diploma in providing Clinical Supervision to other therapists.

Having worked in a number of different settings such as for the NHS/ IAPT as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation services  - I have added other modalities to my knowledge base such as CBT and DBT and incorporate these into my private practice for clients when there is a need - or it would help their progress.

I am very knowledgeable in my specialist training as a fertility counsellor and have worked in a number of different fertility clinics over the years and at present work for The Lister Fertility Clinic 1.5 days in Chelsea London.  I am qualified to provide Implications Counselling for those going through donor conception treatment and can provide relevant reports that meet HFEA requirements.

Practice description

In my practice I am happy to have an initial phone call or video call for 15minutes for you to ask me any questions and for you to get an idea if I would be a therapist you would feel comfortable opening up to.  It is very important that you can say anything wish to disclose and that you will feel comfortable and feel safe within the therapeutic relationship.

My first session

In our first session we will establish your reasons for therapy and look at your expectations.  Normally in a first session if you have waited a long time to be able to talk to someone confidentially it might be important to just be heard.  At the end of the session I may briefly summarise what we have covered and clarify with you what you hope to gain from coming for this support.  I will ask you to fill out a form giving me your contact information and that of your GP for safeguarding reasons. I will also take time after the first session to assess what might be the best way of working together and what might be most helpful to you.   Any information I hold will of course be held confidentially as required by law.  After 6 sessions it would be normal for us to review your progress.

When I am working with couples then it might mean there are tasks between sessions and even when working with individuals I may provide resources or reading to support your therapy work.

With both couples and individuals we would jointly sign a working alliance agreement around the boundaries of the therapy.  In my experience this provides a firm foundation and helps to avoid any misunderstandings as you make progress in your therapeutic treatment.
