About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor and supervisor qualified in 2003 in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, and as a Consultative Supervisor having passed with Surrey Counselling Training in September 2022. I have been supervising one to one and group supervisees. I have seen many people with many issues who have walked through my door, many of whom have grown, developed and progressed to be such amazing people! I love and am passionate about my job and enjoy helping young people and adults.
I have helped people with varying degrees of issues for example, relationship issues, stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression, low mood, abuse, self harm, and cultural issues. Through my work in a secondary school I have helped many students with the above as well as, exam stress, lockdown anxiety and parental/family concerns. I have provided adults and young people a safe and confidential place to be heard.
Listening is not about the client just talking but also about hearing the non verbal cues and also understanding with empathy. It is important to be welcoming to a client, as at times we forget how nervous our clients can be, especially on their first visit. As a client you have made a big positive step for yourself, so a warm welcome and acceptance and acknowledging that you have taken this step is important for me to offer this to any client.
Relationships of every kind are important and I will offer you a safe, non-judgemental, secure place. I am reliable and consistent and accept you through building rapport, of who you are.
Over the years the way I work has included short and long term counselling, and working with young people, having achieved my Diploma in Working with Adolescents in a School setting in 2020 with Metanoia.
I also work with EAPs, and use different approaches according to what the client brings into counselling.
As times have changed recently, my work can now be carried out through Zoom, Facetime, Skype and Teams, telephone, and face to face.
