About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Melina Therapy, bespoke counselling therapy to meet your emotional and wellbeing needs. I am Melina, a BACP accredited counsellor and with thirty years’ experience, I can help you with many issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and grief to more niche, childhood, relationship, trauma and PTSD.
I am a trauma specialist counsellor, with expertise in sexual abuse and sexual violence. My practice is trauma informed, as it is important that you feel safe with me and safe within the therapeutic space. As each person processes trauma differently, clients often seek this specialist support to process their thoughts and release trauma safely.
My approach is integrative - integrating mental and physical healing. Engaging both mind and body techniques. Drawn from a unique blend of evidence based therapies, grounded in neuroscience, with coaching and mindfulness practices to create effective individualised psychological care.
I have expertise in addictions; drugs, alcohol and others including online addictions.
I have expertise in couples counselling and emotional focused therapy to resolve emotional issues and strengthen bonds. Family dynamics or any other defined relationship.
I also provide wellness coaching for clients who want to focus on their health and well-being and prioritise goals and future aspirations.
In 2024 I trained with a visionary Afghanistan based charity (the first UK participant), delivering trauma recovery yoga classes to women, children and refugees in war zones. This deepened my understanding of how mind-body practices such as gentle movement, breathwork and meditation can calm the mind and restore balance. Beautifully complimenting the work I have been doing for decades.
I am English-Italian, living in the UK and I work mainly online, with clients here and around the globe. I am culturally sensitive and drawn to those who have been marginalised or targeted in some way. And I would love to hear from you and share my methods with you.
Practice description
At any time in our lives we can face personal challenges, whether you are going through a difficult life transition, loss or struggling with unresolved issues from your past. Talking to someone who is professionally trained and impartial can really help. I know that therapy can seem daunting, however by beginning the process of opening- up, is beginning the process of healing.
By definition, I would describe counselling as the process of healing, to make or become sound again. In therapy sessions we may look at our past, the aim is not to self-blame, rather explore with compassion, so we can understand, change our narrative and our sense of ourselves and our story. And within this safe space where we can be vulnerable, curious, explorative and celebrative. Melina therapy is providing all of these and anything in-between.
We can engage in mindful practises, to discover presence, reduce stress and anxiety, aid sleep and relaxation. Finding ways to support and enhance your daily routines, so you can feel happier, healthier and more content.
My focus is to provide the most effective therapy for you and to be adaptive to each individual, not prescriptive to follow methodology, because it has worked with others. So you can feel better, happier and more content.
What you can expect is a very warm, compassionate practice, where you can be open and honest, with useful tools and interventions that you can take-away and sustain independently and beyond therapy.
My first session
The first session is to gain an understanding of what has lead you to therapy and what you might want to achieve from it. Here, you can begin to explore you thoughts and feelings and so I can tailor the therapy to meet your needs.

Practice description
Clinical supervision is for counsellors, psychotherapists and other wellness practitioners, to support their work and help reduce the impact on their own mental health. Often described as secondary or vicarious trauma, anyone who engages empathically with clients and is witness to material relating to their trauma can be affected. In adherence to the BACP Ethical framework - supervision is there to enhance good practice and to protect clients from poor practice.
I would describe my service as your safe space to decompress, explore cases and be reflective in your practice. Where you can raise any concerns and celebrate the joy of client work. Also, hold space for your self-care and wellbeing.
I believe that warmth, openness and authenticity are key to building trust and empathy within the supervisory relationship. Regarding supervision as collaborative support and guidance, so you can continue to grow and feel valued as a practitioner. While the consistency of supervision is essential to affirming the supervisory bond and depth of the work.
My practice is inclusive and I am culturally sensitive, naturally drawn to those who have been stigmatised, marginalised or targeted in some way. Often clients come to me who have been displaced, missing a sense of belonging, identity, or going through a difficult life transition.
I am English-Italian living in the UK and I work mainly remotely online with clients here and across the globe. So I would love to hear from you and about your practice and share these methods with you.

Her warmth, supportive and acceptant approach to the supervisory relationship provides an ideal model to aspire to in my own therapeutic alliances. My first session
The initial session gives an opportunity to meet and see how we work together. To gain an understanding of your practice and what you might want to get from supervision. To agree boundaries and begin to present cases. So I can assess and tailor the supervision to your needs. Contractual agreements such as My Supervision Agreement and Confidentiality Policy are sent prior to the initial session.
"I would recommend Melina if you want an approach that is genuine, warm, caring, reflective and informed. I am able to be fully transparent about my emotions and thought processes about my clients. I have felt safe to be able to explain fully how the therapy I have undertaken has impacted on my own well-being. I have learned to be extremely confident in my abilities and my ethical approach."
