About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Melina Therapy, bespoke counselling therapy to meet your emotional and well-being needs. I am Melina, a BACP accredited counsellor and with thirty years’ experience I can help you with many issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and grief to more niche, childhood, relationship, trauma and PTSD.

I am a trauma specialist counsellor, with expertise in sexual abuse and sexual violence. My practice is trauma informed so you can feel safe with me and safe within the therapy space. As everyone processes trauma differently, often clients seek this specialist support to process feelings and release trauma safely.

I am an integrative counsellor - integrating mental and physical healing. Drawn from a unique blend of evidence based therapies, grounded in neuroscience, with coaching and mindfulness practices. To create effective individualised psychological care.

I have expertise in addictions; drugs, alcohol and other addictions such as online addictions.

I have expertise in couples counselling and emotional focused therapy to resolve emotional issues and strengthen bonds.

I also provide wellness coaching for clients who want to prioritise their well-being and focus more on living a healthier lifestyle. Whilst setting goals that align with their values and future aspirations.

I am English-Italian, living in the UK and I work mainly remotely online, with clients here and around the globe. I am culturally sensitive and drawn to those who have been marginalised or targeted in some way.

In 2024 I trained with a visionary Afghanistan based charity (the first participant in the UK), delivering trauma recovery yoga to women, children and refugees in conflict war zones. This deepened my understanding of how mind-body practices such as gentle movement, breathwork and meditation can calm the mind and safely release trauma. Beautifully complimenting the therapeutic work I have been doing for decades. And I would love to share these methods with you.

Practice description

At any time in our lives, we can face personal challenges or struggle from unresolved issues from our past. Talking to someone who is professionally trained and impartial can really help. I understand that therapy can seem daunting, however, starting the process is to open-up and begin to heal.

By definition, I would describe counselling as the process of healing, to make or become sound again. In therapy sessions we may look at our past, the aim is not to self-blame, rather explore with compassion, so we can understand, change our narrative and our sense of ourselves and our story. And within this safe space where we can be vulnerable, curious, explorative and celebrative. Melina therapy is providing all of these and anything in-between.

We can explore mindful practices to discover presence, peace and calm within. And explore ways to support and enhance your daily routines and wellness - so you can feel happier, healthier and more content. Whilst manifesting and setting goals that align with your values and future aspirations.

My focus is to provide the most effective therapy for you and to be adaptive to each individual, not prescriptive to follow methodology, because it has worked with others.

What you can expect is a warm, compassionate therapy space, where you can be open and honest and listened to and heard. Where you can learn simple tools and interventions to take-away and sustain independently.
