About me and my therapy practice
I have been a qualified Supervisor since 2011, I completed a Diploma qualification in creative supervision recognized by the BACP with Cascade. I offer one to one and group supervision to all theoretical backgrounds and offer supervision to volunteer and qualified counsellors. I support the counsellor by making sure the client is offered an ethical, safe, confidential and warm environment, and reducing risk. (safe guarding children and vulnerable adults) I have ten years experience working as a supervisor with supervisees with diverse theoretical backgrounds. Supervision is exploring cohesively (supervisor & counsellor) the therapeutic relationship, exploring risks, any safeguarding issues, and supporting counsellor to ensure they are working and adhering to the BACP ethical guidelines. Supervision is also supporting the well being of the supervisee and reflecting on any difficulties or triggers that may arise in supervisees counselling sessions, encouraging and promoting self care. I believe that the supervisory relationship mirrors the counselling therapeutic relationship, when the right conditions are present such as trust, congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathy with a non judgmental attitude, counsellors will take risks to explore situations that may arise in their counselling sessions such as feeling stuck, bored, sexuality, differences in the therapeutic relationship and triggers to supervisees own experiences. Supervision is an Ethical requirement, where ethics, equality & diversity, boundaries and self development are explored to enhance the therapeutic practice. I am also able to support supervisees/counsellors who are wanting to complete there accreditation and would like to discuss completion of their accreditation and procedures necessary. Due to Covid 19, I am also offering online and telephone supervision, supporting counsellors that are working through lockdown and unable to attend face to face supervision.Practice description
