About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified psychotherapist and BACP accredited counsellor with many years’ experience supporting people with a range of needs. I can offer short-term or long-term therapy, according to your needs and we can explore what will work best for you. I am specially trained to work remotely and can offer therapy via a range of online methods, as well as in person (subject to the current restrictions). I support people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives and can bring my expertise as an EMDR practitioner to help people process these troubling experiences.

Practice description

Some people can become dominated by past traumatic experiences which can stop them being able to enjoy life or even be able to function freely in day-to-day living. The therapy I offer aims to help people to process these experiences so that they lose their significance.  My premises are in a quiet rural location, providing a pleasant and calming environment that also enables client privacy.  If the therapy is online, it is protected by encrypted software.

My first session

My aim is to use my knowledge and skills to provide therapy that will meet your individual needs. Initially, my primary focus will be that you feel safe enough with me to discuss your experiences. Together we will explore your needs and I will recommend how we might work together to achieve the best outcomes for you. If we are working online, we will use encrypted software to ensure confidentiality. During the therapy, I will check with you on a frequent basis that the therapy still feels right for you.

Availability

I am generally available 9am-5pm but can offer some evening appointments, subject to availability.  As a supervisor I will always be available for emergency contact and will offer up 20mins consultation free of charge.

About me and my therapy practice

In supervision I am interested in the supervisee's experience of their therapeutic work.  I will want to explore with the supervisee their relationship with their clients and the process during the counselling sessions.  The supervision process can uncover elements in the counselling work that we are not consciously aware of and we always end up relating with our clients differently once we have these insights.  Supervision is about change and growth and I will work collaboratively with a supervisee to achieve that goal.

Practice description

I am experienced supervisor who has supported many trainee counsellors through placement and onto qualifying.  I have also supported many qualified counsellors through to successful BACP accreditation.  I work as an integrative supervisor (with a a strong focus on the therapeutic relationship and process) offering support and also facilitating growth and development through gentle challenge.  The supervisory relationship is important to me and I want supervisees to feel safe enough to be honest with me. All is us, however, knowledgeable or experienced have days when we realise that we weren't at our best with clients or that we have made an error.  Supervision offers a space of curiosity and compassionate learning about why such occasions exist and how we can avoid them in the future.

My first session

Our first session will explore your needs and we will discuss our contracting process.  I will be interested in what is important to you in your therapeutic work and what future ambitions you hold.   If you are a trainee, we will explore what your course requires, such as supervision reports etc.  I am happy to have an introductory phone call prior to our first session so that any questions can be asked and potential supervisees can test out whether I feel like the right fit for them.  There would be no charge for this call.
