Availability
I have some flexability around my availability although my main Private Practice days are Thursday and Friday.
Sadly I am not able to offer wheelchair accessability as I have stairs to access the therapy room.
There are cats at the property so if you are allergic to cats, this may be a problem for you.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced therapist working with adults, couples and families in the Salisbury area and across the UK online. I offer both short term counselling and longer term/open ended therapy adjusting to your needs and preferences. The therapeutic relationship is key to your outcome and the work that we will do together aims to develop personal awareness, effect healing and to enable healthy change in your life.
Life can often get complicated or feel more challenging at times and having an opportunity to talk in a confidential and accepting environment can help you to find resolution. I can help and support you with a wide range of issues such as loss, relationships, self-esteem, personal development, depression, stress and anxiety. I also have experience in working with developmental trauma and PTSD. My specialist area is in working with families and individuals affected by addiction, having worked for Action on Adiction previously for 15 years.
My approach has been influenced by a range of models of counselling. I began from a psychodynamic base, which seeks to explore the influence of early experience on present day life. Additional training in Attachment Theory (an understanding of early development), Family Systemic Theory (how we adapt and change to the environments we live in) and Transactional Analysis (exploring the dynamics between people), Polyvagal Theory (understanding the role of our nervous systems, mind and body connection), have enriched and developed my practice. I also have additional training in working with trauma.
I also train new counsellors with Redlands Counselling up to Level 5, which continues to inform my work with clients and supervisees.

About me and my therapy practice
"The sense of Supervision as being an oasis or a fireside, a place where a weary traveller can take some respite and nourishment to continue his or her professional journey." (Hewson J, 2008)
At the roots of my work as a therapist, tutor and supervisor, is the relationship. The relationship as the fundamental vehicle for change both professionally and personally. I see supervision as a time and space to explore the landscape of the work and the humans within that landscape. Theory provides a map to navigate by, ethics provide us the boundaries to maintain safe experiences for clients, supervisees and supervisors.
My aim is to come alongside my supervisees with curiosity, empathy, new perspectives and challenge. I see supervision as a process by which to empower my supervisees in their own development and exploration.
I obtained my Supervision Diploma through The Iron Mill College.
As a therapist my theoretical underpinnings are as a Humanistic Integrative practitioner, incorporating Psychodynamic, TA, Attachment and Systemic theories and I am trauma informed.
I worked as part of the Clouds / Action on Addiction Families team for 15 years, developing and facilitating a range of programmes, including the M-PACT programme ( for families affected by parental substance use) and the residential Family Programme. I have been teaching with Redlands Counselling, training new counsellors for five years.
