My name is Caroline Harroe, and I have been a qualified psychotherapist for over 20 years. The way I am trained is rooted in a person-centered approach, where I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients, allowing them to explore their deepest fears, vulnerabilities, and hopes, while offering guidance and support along their journey of self-discovery and healing. Drawing from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness techniques, I tailor my approach to meet each individual's unique needs, empowering them to navigate life's challenges, gain self-awareness, and cultivate positive change.
I'm also a devoted mother and the CEO of Harmless.org.UK. My passion lies in providing support and assistance to individuals impacted by self-harm and suicide. With years of experience and a deep commitment to mental health advocacy, I have led Harmless.org.UK in creating a safe and nurturing environment for those facing these challenges. It's my mission to promote well-being, eliminate stigma, and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals seeking support. I am honored to serve as the CEO of Harmless.org.UK, and I remain dedicated to driving change and fostering understanding in the field of mental health.
Practice description
While I have experience and training across a wide range of therapeutic themes, I have developed strong specializations in working with individuals who struggle with self-harm, suicidality, trauma, and autism. I understand the sensitive and complex nature of these issues and have dedicated myself to gaining in-depth knowledge and expertise in these specific areas. I employ evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques tailored to each individual's unique circumstances, ensuring a compassionate and supportive approach. My goal is to provide a safe space for healing, growth, and empowerment for those facing these challenges, and to help them navigate their journey towards improved mental well-being and a more fulfilling life.My first session
First sessions can indeed be awkward for everyone involved, including both the therapist and the client. It is a natural part of the therapeutic process as we are essentially strangers coming together to embark on a journey of exploration and healing. During this initial session, there is often a sense of unfamiliarity and uncertainty as we navigate the dynamics and establish a therapeutic relationship. However, it is important to remember that this awkwardness is temporary and often dissipates as trust and rapport begin to develop over subsequent sessions. As a therapist, I am mindful of this initial discomfort and strive to create a warm and non-judgmental environment that encourages open communication and allows clients to gradually feel more at ease. Together, we work through the awkwardness, recognizing it as a normal part of the therapeutic process, and ultimately paving the way for deeper connection and meaningful progress in the therapeutic journey. What I can help with
