About me and my therapy practice
If you are looking at this page you might be feeling a bit anxious about diving into the unknown. However, help with a current problem could be just a phone call away.
I've been a counsellor for many years and in that time I've worked for a number of different organisations alongside my private practice, including the NHS and charitable organisations.
I enjoy supporting people to overcome problems in their lives in order for them to reach their full potential. Currently I’m training for the doctorate in counselling psychology, which means that I work in a way that uses up to date research and knowledge to help you understand yourself more fully.
Additionally, I hold a qualification in occupational psychology which informs my practice to support you with any work-based difficulties.
I also use a trauma-informed approach for supporting people to recover from difficult relationships, both in their personal lives and in the work place.
Practice description
I work intuitively and empathically, mostly using a humanistic approach. This puts you at the centre of the therapy and I will work collaboratively with you to resolve the problems that bring you to therapy. However, I also have an eye to the past, bringing in a psychodynamic perspective if this feels helpful. I also sometimes offer to bring in CBT, or a creative activity if there is something specific that comes to light during our work together and if you are open to this type of approach.
Trauma recovery is an area I have a particular interest in, providing empathic support if you feel that you need to disclose difficult experiences from the past that are preventing you from moving on in your life.

About me and my therapy practice
Initially qualified in person-centred therapy, I now hold a higher qualification in integrative therapies. This includes all humanistic therapies, CBT-informed approaches, psychodynamic and systemic modalities. I am nearing the end of a doctorate level training in counselling psychology and hold both the BPS approved certificate in supervision and the level 6 diploma in supervision.
Practice description
In accordance with BACP guidelines, I will work with you in the modality that you use in your practice. This includes in-person, on-line and telephone counselling.
My first session
In our first session, we can discuss your needs as a supervisee. I will be interested in what type of modality you work in and how you usually see your clients. I draw on several types of supervision style and depending upon your own practice, we can discuss which you think might suit you. This might adapt depending on the type of work that you undertake. For example, trauma-informed work might need a slightly different approach.
I am also interested in you as a person and will encourage self-reflection in your counselling work.
If you feel it would be helpful, I offer an initial 30 minute telephone call (at no cost) to make sure that you feel we are a good match, to support you in the work that you undertake.
