About me and my therapy practice
Life is rarely straight forward and at times we can all feel lost and overwhelmed as we are constantly being presented with change and challenges.
In counselling you can talk about absolutely anything and I have learned to expect the unexpected! Sometimes you may think that your problem is too small when compared to those of other people, but if it is important to you, that is all that matters.
I am an accredited counsellor working with adults and young people with a wide experience of anxiety (general anxiety disorder, health anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, panic attacks), as well as trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, depression, stress, worry, low self-esteem, low confidence and bereavement and loss.
Modern day life can leave us feeling anxious and stressed, helpless, sad and lacking in a sense of direction and purpose. If any of these sound familiar to you it is likely that you are experiencing some kind of crisis in your life and hopefully I can help you.
I am an accredited member of BACP, hold degree level qualifications in counselling and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.
Practice description
I work in a collaborative, integrative way combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a Humanistic approach. Every client is unique and I aim to tailor the counselling to suit you. My goal is to help you develop greater understanding, to be able to think more clearly, as well as to help you identify any unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to your distress. These could include anxiety (general anxiety disorder), panic, depression and feeling sad, relationship problems and low self-esteem. Together we could develop more helpful coping strategies.
I have a dedicated counselling room in a tranquil setting in Wooburn Green which is convenient for High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Marlow and Maidenhead. I work with adults and teenagers and offer flexible day and evening appointments. I also work some weekends and bank holidays.
My first session
I fully believe that in counselling issues may be spoken about which are not easy and for this reason it is very important that you feel comfortable working with me. I therefore offer a free initial session which lasts about 30-40 minutes prior to any counselling taking place. This allows you to briefly outline your reasons for accessing therapy such as wanting help in dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, relationship issues or low self-esteem. It also allows me to say a little about how I work, to speak about confidentiality and to answer any questions that you may have.
This initial meeting places you under no obligation and after this session you can either make an appointment for your first 'proper' counselling session, go away and think about it, or decide it is not for you. There is no pressure.
