I work in private practice on a full time basis offering weekday sessions any time between 8am in the morning and 9pm in the evening. I also offer sessions on Saturday mornings between 9am and 1pm.About me and my therapy practice
I am the founder of Chelmsford Talking Therapy and an experienced, fully qualified Registered and BACP Accredited Counsellor. I hold an industry recognised Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Therapy.
Whilst my core approach to counselling is psychodynamic, I am flexible in my practice and always open to exploring client options in line with their own, individual needs.
My client base is wide ranging. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with acute anxiety, depression, panic attacks, bereavement, work related and personal stress, anger problems and difficulties relating to trauma/PTSD; both on a long term and short term basis.
As well as work with adults and couples, I also have over twelve years experience working therapeutically with children, young people and their families. I have also provide telephone and online counselling EAP services for a number of governmental bodies all over the UK, including (but not limited to): NHS Services in Essex, Yorkshire and the West country; Police Scotland, NCA, Metropolitan Police, Northumbria Police, Surrey Police and BCH Police Forces; Royal Mail Group, and various local authorities.
My practice involves gentle, non-oppressive exploration into a client’s inner world taking into account, amongst other things, that person’s individual belief system, their relational and inter-relational history, childhood experiences / significant figures in their childhood, and how that client views the world around them from their own, personal perspective.

My first session
One of the main aims of an initial session at Chelmsford Talking Therapy is to help you become more familiar / comfortable with the counselling process. The session will provide a basic outline of the therapeutic relationship, which will include an explanation and emphasis on the importance of confidentiality within the counselling setting (as well as exceptions to this).
It is understood that for many the initial meeting with a counsellor can be very daunting, and to help me to contain the anxieties that you may well find yourself experiencing, I will provide a space that will help you explore both your inner and outer world at a pace that it suitable to you. This may include looking into some of your past experiences as well as the present, but the emphasis will always be on forming the basis of a strong therapeutic relationship between us.
