About me and my therapy practice

Central to my way of working is my belief in the value of relationships. I value your safety and trust, and will work with you towards your own goals, with a view to supporting your growth and healing in ways that are meaningful to you. I work in a conversational and relational way, rather than analytically. I believe in your autonomy; your capability to be self-aware and influential in your own development. My passion is for people to become their most authentic selves and will be pleased to support you in your journey. Please note my fees vary according to client group size i.e. individuals/couples/families, please contact me for details.

Practice description

My home office offers an informal, non-clinical kind of environment, where I hope you will feel relaxed and able to talk in safety about your concerns.

There is space for parking on my driveway at the front of the house, and dedicated loo facilities for clients.

Whilst I believe that face-to-face offers the best quality therapeutic experience, I also work with clients via Skype and Zoom.

My first session

I offer a warm welcome and informal manner. We will initially discuss confidentiality and what brought you to therapy. I will make some notes during this session, but will not in sessions going forwards. You will be asked to complete consent and contact details forms, which make clear the boundaries of the work. We will agree regularity of contact, including booking a next session, should you want to continue the work with me. We will also agree how payment will be made.

I have a special interest in developmental and relational trauma. I enjoy working with groups and organisations that serve the community with regard to social support and justice, trauma-informed approaches and relational issues within your organisation.

I have a broad experience and would be happy to have a conversation about your training needs and what I can offer.

I am writing a new model towards the recovery and overcoming of developmental and relational trauma that I would love to share with interested parties.

About me and my therapy practice

I love communicating and sharing a creative and open learning space. An environment based on mutual respect and consideration is most effective in fostering helpful learning, which is what I aspire to provide. I taught in further education from 2003-2013, completing a Professional Certificate in Education, Accredited by The University of Greenwich.

During my time as Pathway Leader for Counselling at West Herts College, I wrote the counselling curriculum at levels 2-5, and progressed hundreds of students through the life-changing journey that is counselling training.

I enjoyed developing a robust team of six counselling tutors, and working with them in clarifying and developing the counselling curriculum. I was also responsible for initiating/developing tutor supervision and continuing professional development for the team.

My special interests lie in the fields of relationships, communication, child and adult attachment, and trauma recovery (including childhood trauma and abuse). Spirituality is central to my  understanding of human nature and well-being and, and I am also able to facilitate spiritual direction and quiet/retreat days.

Practice description

I run a busy private practice where I work with both clients and supervisees. This affords me a broad and accepting perspective which informs my training.

I take my commitment to you and your needs very seriously, bringing openness and honesty to my work. Be in touch to discuss what your training needs are and how we might work together to meet those needs. Warm wishes.

I am hoping to start a new supervision group, please be in touch if you would like to join in.

About me and my therapy practice

My supervision style is relational and congruent, drawing on a wide range of theoretical approaches. I am a believer in the value of the whole person, including intuition and resonance, along with the cognitive and emotional processing usual in supervision. I have a keen interest in people and what it is to be authentically human, which also influences the way I work. My years as a counselling trainer have enhanced my capacity to mentor supervisees in the practical application of theory and ethics, as well as offering support through the accreditation process. I run group supervision as well as seeing supervisees on a one-to-one basis. Please see my website for further information.

Practice description

My home-office provides an informal and relaxing space where I hope you will feel welcome and able to grow and learn with me.

There is room to park on the driveway and dedicated loo facilities.

My first session

During our first meeting, I will be asking what you are hoping for from supervision, and from your supervisor. We will be sharing a bit about ourselves and our thoughts on therapy and being a therapist. This is to give us both the opportunity to decide whether we would like to build a working relationship together.

We will discuss frequency of sessions, and the cost including how you will make payment. There will be opportunities to ask questions and clarify anything that is vague.
