About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I provide a confidential, warm and secure therapeutic space. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy can help to make sense of current struggles through exploring the unconscious and by processing difficulties rooted in the past. Please contact me if you would like to arrange a face to face session in Clifton Village Bristol, or online.
Unconscious patterns of behaviour affect one's experience of the world; this approach allows for a gradual exploration of deeper conflicts, bringing to light protective but maladaptive ways of coping. This process can bring together a more coherent understanding of the self and better equip one to deal with life's challenges. The capacity to develop in this way helps one to discover a deeper sense of identity, maintain better relationships, experience more meaning in everyday life and make positive choices.
Something difficult may have happened in your life, or you may feel overwhelmed and anxious, unhappy or worried but you’re not sure why or how to change things. I have experience of talking to people who have come to therapy for a wide variety of reasons, such as depression, anxiety and lack of self-confidence. I welcome those of any age, culture, gender and background.
Practice description
I work with the unconscious using Psychodynamic principles. We explore together what is present for you in a non-linear and non-directive way. I can offer you the couch to recline on, if that feels comfortable for you, which can sometimes facilitate a deeper process and journey into the unconscious.
My first session
I usually arrange two initial meetings to explore whether Psychodynamic therapy is right for you. I will ask you more questions to begin with to get a sense of your history . In the second session you will have a chance to reflect on your experience of the therapy . If we decide to work together we will arrange to meet at least once a week for 50 minutes, and think together about what feels right in terms of the length and frequency of therapy.
What I can help with
Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Women's issues, Work related issues
