About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified practitioner with a broad range of experience, working in private practice. I offer once weekly individual Psychodynamic therapy for adults which can be open ended, long term work or I offer short term, time limited sessions too. I provide a warm, non-judgmental and confidential therapeutic environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings and everyday challenges.
I work in an empathic, relational way and provide a safe space for the exploration of thoughts and feelings in order to develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust and security. Together we can make links to your past experiences with the aim to make the unconscious more conscious, leading to more self awareness and ultimately to significant changes enabling you to live a more fulfilled and satisfied life.
Practice description
You may be seeking therapy because you are experiencing difficult feelings and emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger or low self esteem. You may have relationship difficulties or work related issues. You may have had a recent bereavement or are experiencing the impact of abuse, either from childhood or as an adult. Our work together will be confidential and is a way of giving yourself time to reflect, process and make positive changes in your life.
I believe that psychological well-being is important for people in order that they can lead full, satisfying and creative lives. My aim is to help each individual to reach a healthy outcome. In this way I support clients to develop clarity and insight into their difficulties, whilst enabling them to have the skills to deal more effectively with the challenges they are facing.
My first session
The values of my practice are founded on the principles of respect, inclusiveness and providing appropriate support, tailored to your individual needs. I achieve this through integrating practical and theoretical approaches.
Sometimes, taking the first step to therapy can feel daunting and scary and so I suggest that we would meet for an initial consultation in the first instance, to discuss some of the issues you may be dealing with as it can really help to have someone alongside you. If we both feel that the first meeting has gone well, we can then arrange to meet up regularly, usually for 50 minutes every week. We might agree to meet for a short time (12 sessions) or a longer time, without a fixed ending.
