About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, confused emotions or thoughts? I am an experienced and Accredited Counsellor and can offer you a confidential safe space to explore the challenges in your life.
I have experience of working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma (including physical and sexual abuse), and relationships. I am experienced in a number of different counselling modalities, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapy, and as such can tailor the therapy to suit your needs.
How I can help
Sometimes life can be challenging and through no fault of our own rarely goes the way that we planned it. At these times we can feel a bit stuck, lost or broken, and can experience difficulties with our mental health and emotions. Whatever you maybe struggling with in your personal life, relationship or work life, therapy can help.
Counselling or therapy is about talking to someone in confidence, whom you trust, about your worries and will give you the opportunity to be with someone who is trained to listen. I can offer you a place where you can be open and honest, and a place where you will not be judged or told what to do.
Working together I can help you explore your situation to help you to achieve new insight and awareness, and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Together we can help you develop the ability to resolve or effectively manage a situation in your life, empower you to make your own choices, and help you make any changes so you can lead a more fulling life.
This may be the first step towards the changes to your life that you have been looking for. Together we can work to restore balance to your life and increase your sense of well being.
Practice description
Counselling sessions can be face to face, online, or over the phone. Face to face sessions take place my home where I have a dedicated therapy space. It is a calm and quiet room that allows for confidentiality. Alternatively, online or phone sessions allow more flexibility and allow you to attend from the comfort of your own home. You do need to ensure that you are in a confidential safe space and ensure that you will not be disturbed. There is a body of evidence that suggests that the outcome to these forms of counselling is equal to the effects of traditional face to face counselling.
My first session
The initial session of 30 minutes is free and gives you the chance to assess if I am the right person for you. It also gives me the opportunity to understand what you are looking for and to see if what I can offer will suit you, before we make an agreement to work together.
