About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, respectful listening space within which you can explore your thoughts and concerns without judgement. I believe that within a nurturing, supportive therapeutic relationship you can build on your own strengths and resilience in order to find more effective ways of coping and develop greater self awareness.

My approach is person-centred in the emphasis on the quality of the therapeutic relationship and developing a good interpersonal connection and deep understanding of the client and their experience of the world. As part of the work we may consider how early relationships and experiences continue to affect our sense of ourself in the world and relationship with others.

I aim to work with you to support positive change and personal growth, and finding more effective ways of coping with adversity and living well.

I am a late diagnosed autistic woman and am part of the LGBT+ community. I am experienced in working with autistic clients to identify ways of meeting their needs as an individual. I work in solidarity with LGBT+ communities.

Practice description

My practice supports gender, sexuality and relationship diversity, and I have actively worked to promote greater representation and  inclusion of LGBT+ people throughout my working life.

I work with a range of issues working with clients to provide a respectful listening space to explore the issues that are troubling them.

I have considerable experience of working with the impacts of domestic abuse and sexual violence in the voluntary sector, and in addition to this have also volunteered for a national bereavement charity and worked with both individuals and couples for an organisation specialising in intimate partner relationships.

My first session

During the first session I will provide the space for you to share what issues you would like to discuss and what you would hope for from therapy with me. We can talk about any questions that you may have and consider any goals.

This is an opportunity for us both to discover whether we think we can work together. I will be assessing whether and how I can help you and I will want to understand what you would like to gain from therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

I have worked in the domestic abuse and sexual violence sector for rape crisis and women's aid since 2010, and have provided Clinical Supervision since 2021 to workers and counsellors working on the frontline in this area, including Refuge Workers, Outreach Workers, Helpline Volunteers and ISVAs. I approach the work as an intersectional feminist, centring the needs for care and validation of those working at the intersections of injustice.

I have provided both individual supervision and group reflective practice to counsellors and other practitioners, and aim to provide a trauma-informed  respectful listening space from which to consider both the work itself and the needs of the client, and the impacts on those working with trauma.

I have also provided training for a rape crisis centre and have experience of working with trainees.

Practice description

I am a relational supervisor and work collaboratively to enhance understanding of the client work and its impact in order to practice more effectively and encourage professional growth whilst maintaining the resources needed to practice ethically and safely.

I aim to facilitate a respectful, reflective space for us to explore and consider professional and personal responses to client work, providing a protective space to reflect, holding the wellbeing of both practitioner and client at the heart of the work.

I offer Group supervision, please ask for further details.
