About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling stressed, low in mood, anxious? Have events in your life caused you to feel this way? Have you experienced a bereavement that you are struggling to cope with? Or maybe you are experiencing some difficulties in your relationships that you need help with?
Life can be difficult and challenging at times and it isn’t always easy to talk to those closest to you. This is when counselling can be of help.
As a Counsellor, I can offer the opportunity to talk about the difficulties you are facing in a confidential, safe and supportive space, working together with you on your concerns and enabling you to gain understanding and make sense of how you are feeling so that life can begin to feel easier.
Engaging in counselling with myself will provide the opportunity to be listened to with empathy, compassion and understanding, without judgement, as we work together to explore the difficulties you are facing, which can allow you to be supported and work towards any changes you wish to make.
Practice description
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor with degree in Psychology (BSc) and Masters in Counselling Psychology (MSc).
I have nearly 20 years of counselling experience working in the area of mental health in various settings; such as the NHS , GP surgeries, the Voluntary Sector, and currently in the Workplace for Employer Assistance Programmes and in Private Practice.
As a counsellor, I am person centred in my approach, and I tailor my work individually depending on your needs but I will draw on various models of therapy which I feel may be of benefit to you for example; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy. I have also completed further specialised training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) a NICE guideline treatment for depression used in the NHS and bereavement and loss.
My first session
Taking the first steps in seeking support can seem daunting and can take a lot of courage.
If you wish to take the next step, please call or email me to arrange a no obligation chat (up to 20 minutes). I will introduce myself and answer any questions you may have about my way of working, and it will allow you to briefly to introduce yourself and discuss what support your looking for. Then if after we speak we think it is appropriate and you wish to go ahead, we can book an initial appointment.
The initial appointment is important, for making sure that you feel comfortable, so that you are able to start to tell me what is troubling you that you need help with and where I can explain how I can be of help. This will form the basis of our work together, if you decide to go ahead with therapy.
