About me and my therapy practice
I have been qualified as a person-centred counsellor since 2015. I completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology and English Literature back in 2003.
I have had further counselling training in the areas of bereavement and sexual abuse. Although I am also trained as a play therapist and have worked as a counsellor with children and teenagers, however I am choosing to work only with adults and young people from age 14 upwards at this time. I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a range of presenting issues. I am passionate about attending to diversity issues in my work where appropriate, as I know that our various social positions can affect our experiences and viewpoints, as well as have implications for our healing processes. We all represent diversity.
I believe deeply in person-centred theory which is about valuing the personal experiencing of clients in order to promote therapeutic change and listening with a non-judgmental approach. In addition I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the heart of any therapeutic experience. I work as a counsellor because I enjoy supporting clients in achieving their personal therapy goals and I feel privileged to be part of their journey.
I am also a qualified IAPT Well-being Practitioner and have worked with children, young people and their parents offering support with anxiety, low mood and emotional regulation.
I have done Employee Assistance Programme counselling with diverse clients from all around the world.
I have received training on single session therapy with Windy Dryden and can offer one off sessions on specific issues to those who are interested.
My counselling service is inclusive to all. I am trained to work with clients who are marginalized ethnically and racially, LGBTQ clients, and neurodiverse clients.
